Re: I can't find the model no. on my Hotpoint Ovan!
Control Error, Failed EEPROM
You can try a hard reset . turn off the power for 1 minute.. also you can check the connections to the control .. other then that you will have to repalce the control

Just went thru this with my GE/Hotpoint oven....the oven temp sensor removed from oven should measure about 2K ohms and vary when put in ice water and hot water...if it does then problem is control panel circuit board. My oven's board was listed at $300+ so I bought new range ($500+).
The code displayed on the oven indicate that the oven has detected an error from the source of power control (panel).
This problem can be as a result of over flow of water or liquid substance on control unit,
or when there is over flow of power supply on the oven.
when the door of the oven is not properly close etc these can be as a result of the error code displayed on the screen of the oven.
WHAT YOU NEED TO DO TO SOLVE THE PROBLEM OF THE CODE DISPLAYED ON THE OVEN,
is to off and unplugged the oven from power supply for something then plug it and allow it to load on power on it's own before any form of operating then push the reset button if any.
With this the problem of the code will be solve

Try turning off the circuit breaker to the oven for 30 min or so and then turn it back on. If it does not come back on the oven probably got a power surge and the control has been damaged. Hope that helps
You said, Hello from Baton Rouge, La. just recently nailed by Hurricane Gustav....... during
the hype of the storm, I think my wife's double oven took a electric
surge and started smoking. I visually inspected the damage and saw a
badly burnt and scarred flat saucer looking component (suppressor,
transient)...I have ordered a replacement part and would like to know
if you think that replacing this item will be all I will need to do..
If the range was under water I do not think this will be the only problem. I believe it will cause you endless problems if it got submerged! you may end up replacing this water logged unit! Huuum
