Linksys wrt54gs router and Xbox live

I am trying to connect to Xbox live using my Linksys wrt54gs router and am having quite a bit of trouble. I get as far as the IP address test and fail that every time. I am in the Chicago area and have a high speed connection with Comcast. I am getting the same result with a cable as I am with the wireless adapter. I have reset the modem, router, and xbox to no avail. ANY help will be truly appreciated.

Thank you

    Question:
Are you able to get internet on your computer or laptop through the wireless router at all (forget the Xbox for a moment, I'm speaking specifically about the other devices). If not, I know what your problem is :)

    Let me know :)

Make sure that internet connection working fine first..if it is connect you xbox via wired or wireless(if wireless, make sure that you connect to your own wireless network and enter the wireless security if there is)...check if you can get an ip address, better set to obtain the ip address and dns of your xbox, if all set and still unable to access internet, access the linksys router setup page by typing 192.168.1.1 on the address bar of your internet explorer, when pop-up for username and password type admin under password, leave it empty for the username. Click administration tab and disabled UPnP. Check if your X-BOX working fine. Hope this help you.

IP Address Errors

It sounds like you may be having IP address conflicts. Many Xbox users have a fixed IP address set in their unit and then have a Port Forwarding done in the router to provide faster play. If you reset the router all this is lost. Then what can happen is that the router will assign a device the reserved IP address of the Xbox. When you turn the Xbox on, then it cannot connect as there is another device already assigned that address. Reconfiguration is required to prevent IP conflicts.

Linksys wrt54gs changing upnp settings

Hi, you can enable UPnP on a Linksys WRT54GS router by logging in and then clicking on the Administration tab. The first sub-tab is Management, and at the bottom of that page there are buttons to enable or disable UPnP. Click Enable and then click Save Settings at the bottom of the screen.

PS3 and Xbox ( NON BELKIN)

You Will Have to Disable the Firewall In Your modem / Router

And IF it is a router then Open The Ports

• TCP 80
• UDP 88
• UDP 3074
• TCP 3074
• UDP 53
• TCP 53

And also make sure that UPnP is Enabled

Xbox live MTU failure

The reason why you're getting an MTU error is because the MTU has already reached the maximum # of packets that are being sent. To resolve it.
Access the GUI of your Linksys Router and go to the MTU settings. Set it to 1500. The lower, the better

How do i change my NAT connection from moderate to open

This one is simple. Find the IP address that your Xbox is assigned by your router, then put it into the DMZ. This also goes for PS3 users who are having trouble with internet access.
