I did reset the unit but the problem persists. Any other advice?

  • juris Sep 29, 2008

I followed the directions posted - it does not work. Is there some other way to make the cartridge advance so I can take out the old black and replace it?

  • juris Sep 29, 2008

None of the responses has addressed the problem. I can not get the machine to advance the cartridges so that the black can be removed and replaced.

  • juris Sep 29, 2008

Thank you for the link - it only gives the same instructions that I have already tried, however. I need to know if there is an alternate way to get the black toner to advance so I can remove and replace it. It is not happening automatically when I follow the instructions. Is there a way to do it manually?

  • juris Sep 29, 2008

The unit is the 2300W and it has four toner cartridges. When you select Status, Print, Toner Replace it is supposed to rotate the toner cartridges so you can remove the one that is out of ink. It is not allowing me to select Toner Replace - nothing happens and it is not rotating the cartridges.

  • juris Sep 29, 2008

Thank you for your suggestions. Your instructions tell me to remove toners and print cartridges, however, and that is my problem -- I can only remove one toner cartridge because the machine will not advance in order to give me access to the others. They are hidden within the machine until the machine rotates to the one that needs to be replaced - it is not rotating.

HI,
I want you to do these,
1. clean toner chip reader, remove drum and all toners, under the toner rack there is a 3 pin chip reader, use pressure air to clean it.Try to print now.

2.If its not rotating now, then you have to perform Drum Rotation Functional Check.

Follow these steps:

The photosensitive drum, located in the print cartridge, must rotate for the print process to
work. The photosensitive drum receives its drive from the main drive assembly.

NOTE This test is especially important if refilled print cartridges have been used.

1. Open the print-cartridge door.
2. Remove the print cartridge.
3. Mark the drive gear on the cartridge with a felt-tipped marker. Note the position of the
mark.
4. Install the print cartridge and close the print-cartridge door. The startup sequence should
rotate the drum enough to move the mark.
5. Open the print-cartridge door and inspect the gear that was marked in step 3. Verify that
the mark moved.

If the mark did not move, inspect the main drive assembly to make sure that it is meshing
with the print cartridge gears. If the drive gears appear functional and the drum does not
move, replace the print cartridge.

Hope my info solves your problem,
Thanx for using fixya,

    Hi again,

On your postback/comment, may I kindly asked at which step the unit fails to operate as detailed in the instruction(s)?

Additionally, does your unit have Rotate Toner key?

It would appear that for some reason, the carousel of your Konica 2300W is stuck. If you could not perform the Toner cartridge Rotation/Replacement using the Status Display/Printer Tab/Toner Replace as explained in the linked procedures, it may be required that the catridges be manually removed one at a time until the desired color is reached. Pls reference below image.

This is better explained in detail in page 99 of the Service Manual of the Konica 2300W.

If the current cartridge you are using is a 4500K cartridge, and you
forget to reset the printer panel, you will probably get a premature
message that reads 'low' or 'empty' or 'replace'.

    DID YOU GOT THIS MESSAGE...?

    For
the toner to be released, it is necessary to remove the cartridge
sealing tape. This is a clear plastic strip which is pulled out from
inside the toner cartridge. In order to remove the sealing tape, you
will need to break the tab that is connected to the toner cartridge and
pull. It should FULLY come out of the toner cartridge. When you remove
the seal, a small amount of toner will come out with it. We recommend
pulling the seal over a trash can. If the seal was not fully removed
from the cartridge when you pulled it because it got broken, use
scissors to cut the seal. If, after you have cut the seal, the margin
of the printouts look faded, the cartridge will have to be replaced.

    It
will be necessary for you to change a toner cartridge when your laser
machine indicates that you are out of toner. If it indicates that the
toner is low, you may still be able to print a few hundred more pages.

    • In
order to change your toner cartridge you need to know what model of
laser machine you got. There are two names somewhere on the machine.
One is the name of the laser machine (e.g. ucrit01), and the other is
the name of the model (e.g. HP LaserJet 5m). The latter is the name you
need. By knowing this name, you will be able to buy the right cartridge
      for your machine.

    • Turn the machine off and open the top cover.

    • Then, open the front cover and pull the drum unit assembly.

    • Press
down the lock lever and remove the old cartridge from the drum unit. In
order to remove the cartridge, pull it upwards and away from the laser
machine. The cartridge should come out without making much effort.

Remove the new cartridge from its packaging, and rock it gently for a few seconds so as to distribute the toner evenly.

Do not expose the cartridge to the light for long (no more
than a few minutes). While exposed, cover the cartridge with a piece of
    paper or cloth.

    • Take
off the seal from the toner cartridge (a small tab that is attached to
a plastic film strip). Make sure you remove this or your laser machine
      will only print blank pages.

    • Install
the new cartridge into the laser machine by following the arrows or
other cues in the machine that will help you align the cartridge
properly. It should slide in using a small amount of force. If it
doesn’t, check the cartridge is properly aligned and make sure you are
using the correct cartridge. You can find out which toner cartridge is
compatible with your laser machine in our website.

    • When the cartridge is seated, close the top cover.

    • Turn on your laser machine.

    Print
test pages: if they look good, package the empty cartridge and recycle
it-optional. If there are repeated defects, streaks, faded out pages,
etc. on your test pages that were not there before you changed toner
cartridge, there must be a problem with the cartridge. Install a new
one, and print some test pages. If they are clean, it means the first
toner cartridge was faulty. If both cartridges have problems, there
    something wrong with the machine.

    1. Open the Status Display and check which toner color is empty. Then, choose “toner replace” from the print menu.

    2. Select the color of the cartridge you need to replace from the color list box

    3. Select the cartridge capacity (1500 or 4500). Then, click “OK”

    4. When you see the toner indicator on the control panel flashing, open the printer front cover and the carousel will

reposition automatically so that the appropriate cartridge can be removed.

    5. Take the cartridge from the tow holes in its front and pull it straight out about 6”. Then use your left hand to help pull out the cartridge.
    6. Unwrap the new toner cartridge from its package.

    7. Remove the sealing tape.

    8. Check the colored end of every cartridge to be replaced since this corresponds to a color inside the toner cartridge

slots. Install the cartridge in the slot of the same color.

    9. Take the cartridge with your left hand and put the thumb and index finger of your right hand into the two holes in

the front of the cartridge. Then insert it, making sure that the guides on the cartridge fit into the rails in the

carousel. Push the new cartridge gently into the machine.

    10.
Then, close the printer front cover.

The machine will run a calibration cycle which lasts 150 seconds after replacing any consumable. If the cover is opened

before the “ready” indictor on the control panel light up and the error indicator turns off, the machine will stop and

    repeat this cycle.

Replcing the black toner on the Minolta Magic color 2300w

You can press the 'rotate toner' button which is the blue one next to the toner indicators on the top panel or you can open it up and with two hands on either side of the entire cartridge, turn it manually. You will hear clicking sounds as you turn it. I've done this safely replacing all four toners twice over now.

Help replaceing a toner

Here is what you do.... turn off the power, open the door to access the toner cartridges. You'll see the access port to pull the cartridge out. There will be a small picture to the top left showing to use your two fingers to pull it out. Between the pic and the opening there is a square hole with a round plastic tube in the center of it. Take a car or house key and stick it in the hole. When you do, you can now rotate the cartridges by sticking your finger in the individual cartridge holes. Rotate the cartridges until to can freely pull out the one that needs to be replaced. Put the new one in, close the door, turn on the printer... Ta-DA!!
