Jake - the 9630 is a BT version 2.0 device, which is backwards compatible to previous versions. Upgrading to a different version is not possible, as there are different hardware requirements for each. This is the same way that the USB standards are - you can not simply "flash" (install new firmware) a USB 2.0 device to allow it to work like it were a USB 3.0 device.

You can read about the differences between BT versions on Wikipedia.

I need help pairing my B250-XT bluetooth to my Iphone

Eileen,

There are 2 parts to bluetooth. Step 1 is pairing. You need to set the phone AND the headset to detect each other (pairing mode). The phone is the easy part - it will tell you on the screen that it is searching for the headset. The headset has a specific way to put it in detect/pair mode. Sometimes it is holding down the power button for 5 seconds or longer. When the phone detects the headset, it will ask for the password and allow you to name it.

Sometimes, the phones already try the default 0000 passcodes and connect automatically.

Step 2 is connecting to the bluetooth device.

If you are connected and can make and receive calls, you don't need to do anything anymore.

Best of luck.

How to pair a Plantronics Explorer 245 Bluetooth headset and a BlackBerry Tour

The Plantronics Explorer 245 headset can be paired with most Bluetooth-capable phones and smartphones to enable hands-free phone conversations. To pair the headset with a BlackBerry Tour, follow the steps below:

Make sure the Plantronics headset is off before trying to pair the two devices. On your BlackBerry, scroll down to Manage Connections (the antenna icon) in your Home folder and click the trackball. From the list of connections, select Set Up Bluetooth. The Add Device box will appear, asking if you want to search or listen for a Bluetooth device.

At this point, turn your Explorer 245 on by sliding the on/off switch toward the microphone end of the earpiece. Once the device powers on (if you have it in your ear, you'll hear a few short tones) you should see repeating red and blue flashes from the LED lights on the side of the headset. If you only see blue flashes, hold down the call button (the side button) for a few seconds, until the lights start flashing red then blue.

Now, on your Tour, select Search. Bluetooth will be enabled if it's not already, and then the BlackBerry will search for nearby devices. When the headset appears on the list of devices found (it should read "245Plantronics" or something similar) select it. A box will appear letting you know that pairing is now complete, and asking if you want to connect to the headset. Select Yes.

Your BlackBerry Tour and Explorer 245 are now paired. If at any point you turn the headset off, turn the BlackBerry off, or turn the BlackBerry's Bluetooth feature off, the two devices will automatically reconnect when they are able. When you look at your list of paired devices on the BlackBerry, the Explorer headset will appear in bold to show that it is currently connected.

My blackberry bold phone does not locate my Plantronics VBH-300 bluetooth headset whilst trying to pair them. It was paired with a previous nokia phone, which I no longer have.

Hi,you will have to delete the previous paired phones first before you can be able to pair the blackberry phone with your blue tooth device.

You can use the below steps to know how to pair properly:

Instructions

Pair Your Blackberry with a Bluetooth Headset

Turn on Bluetooth headset and Blackberry hand-held.

Enable the Bluetooth radio by going to the options window and clicking on Bluetooth. Click on Enable Bluetooth in that window.

Add your Bluetooth headset to your Blackberry by clicking on Add Device in the Bluetooth window.

Find and select the name of your Bluetooth headset from the list that appears. The Blackberry will search for all Bluetooth devices within range, so other devices might show up on the list.

Click Activate Bluetooth device if you receive a call and the Bluetooth headset does not pick up automatically.

Use your Bluetooth Headset with your Blackberry

Make sure the Bluetooth radio on your Blackberry is turned on before you try to use your Bluetooth headset.

Use the voice-dial feature to call contacts if your headset has that capability. Not all headsets support voice dialing, but more of the newer models do.

Press the on/off button on your headset to end a call or use the end button on the handheld.

Tips & Warnings

Pair your Blackberry with any Bluetooth-enabled device using the same steps as those for connecting a Bluetooth headset.

Remove your Bluetooth headset from the list of paired devices on your Blackberry by selecting and clicking on Delete Device in the Bluetooth window.

Configure your Blackberry to connect to a paired Bluetooth headset without asking for authorization in the Bluetooth Device Properties window. That will allow your headset to automatically reconnect even if you take it out of range temporarily.

Only configure a Bluetooth headset to your Blackberry once. Once you configure the pairing between the two devices, the settings are saved and you do not have to repeat the processes each time you use it.

Turn off the Bluetooth radio on your Blackberry when not in use for security reasons.

Adjust volume on your headset or hand-held to a comfortable level. Excess volume from in-the-ear headsets can cause hearing damage.

Hope it helped.

Thanks for usingf ixya..

I have a new blackberry 9630 and a blue ant headset that i have previously paired to another blackberry. i cannot get my bb to find the headset when i search for devices.

I would delete all existing pairing profiles from your blackberry, once that is done do a hard reset by removing the battery from your phone while it is powered on. When it boots back up, reset the V1 by pressing the vol -/+ and MFB all at the exact same time. Ensure the buttons are NOT held simply clicked all at once like a mouse to a computer. When you get a consistent rapid flash the device has been reset and will go automatically into pair mode. Then re-search in your bluetooth menu, select the V1 when it shows up and enter the pin code 0000 if prompted.

You need to put it into discovery mode before you tell your phone to look for it. You probably hold down the main button until it stays solid lit to do that.
