First spray some WD40 on the silxer shaft that the carrier slides on they get really gummy, if this works run it back and forth a few times then clean the shaft off with a rag.
Your lang light is probably turned on. Hold down the control button (left of the spacebar) and then hit the letter "L". This should turn off the feature.
