Greetings from GoVacuum.com,

Miele canisters have 2 different types of power brushes. The first, and most popular is the Miele SEB 217, and 213 Power heads. To remove the brush, follow these instructions.

On the bottom of the power head there are 2 yellow (older models it is black) plastic screws. You can remove these screws with a phillips head, or flat head screw driver. Simply unscrew these two screws. You do NOT have to remove these screws, just unscrew them to where they are loose enough to remove the bottom plate.

Once you have unscrewed the plastic screws, simply pull the bottom plate up and off of the power brush. You will notice the belt on the left hand side of the brush. Simply pull the brush up, and un hook the belt from the brush;

Now that you have unhooked the brush from the belt, you may thoroughly clean the brush, and un wrap any hair or thread that is wrapped around the brush. You will notice on the roller brush itself there are two indentions on both sides of the brush that run the entire length of the brush. You can take a knife or scissors and run them down the brush on both indentions, which will help you remove the stubborn debris wrapped around them.

Also you'll notice on both sides of the brush that there is a yellow bearing cap on both sides of the brush. You may pull these bearing caps off, and remove any debris that is around these caps. You may also lubricate these bearings with grease or WD-40, to ensure the brushes spin flHow to clean the power - 3ab4cc7.jpg/>3ab4cc7.jpg

After you have cleaned the brushes and bearings, insert the brush roller back through the belt, and into the power brush. You'll notice that the bearing cap will have two sides. One side of the bearing cap has 1 groove in itHow to clean the power - 25b4424.jpg side has 2 grooves.

When you reinsert the brush back into the power brush, you may lower the roller brushes if the machine has been used a lot. If the roller brush is older, you will want to re insert the brush with the side that has 2 grooves facing upwards, and the side with 1 groove in it, facing down. In the first picture above, you will see that the side with 1 groove is facing upwards and is visible to the camera. The side with 2 grooves is facing down. This is because this brush is new. If your brush is older, you will want to reverse that, and have the side with 2 grooves facing upwards. When the brush is back into the power head, simply put the bottom plate back on, (IMPORTANT! Make sure that in the front of the machine the bottom plate is completely hooked onto the front of the power brush, there should NOT be any space in the front) Once you have screwed the plastic screws back into the power brush, in the front of the power head, push the bottom plate upwards to make sure there it is fastened tightly in the front.

I hope this helps you. If you have the larger, less popular SEB236 power brush, just send me an email, I'd be happy to walk you through cleaning the brush on this one also. If you have any questions about this repair, please feel free to email with any questions, I really enjoy sharing my knowledge, and passion fixing vacuum cleaners.

Why won't my Miele 8310 vacuum switch on?

The problem could be a restriction in the brush roll somewhere. Remove the brush roll and clean it and the nozzle housing. It could be an electronic problem which is much harder to diagnose.

Titan power brush not turning

I had a similar problem, cleaned mine too and it looked clean but what i found was hair tightly wrapped around the spindle under the end rollers so tight you could hardly see them, they were pulled right in and it was a nightmare to remove.Try holding the two rollers and get someone to spin the brushes it should spin with rolling a finger over it.mine was not the same machine as yours but they all work the same good luck.

could be that the clutch is bad or the brush roll needs to be removed, cleaned, ends removed and lubed. Try to spin the brush roll and see if it moves freely...if not, it needs to be cleaned and lubed at both ends. I fixed mine today by doing this...not an easy task to remove the brush roll, but it can be done:)

I have a Miele STB-205-3 Turbobrush. After opening the brush cover using a quarter, I use a T-7 torx screw driver (shaped like star of David) to remove the main cover that is held by 4 screws.

There are 2 more screws holding the fan housing. After unscrewing them, you can take the whole thing apart and clean it. Make sure you clean all rotating parts as they collect a lot of hair, dust, etc,

We have a Miele Silver Moon vacuum that isn't

Hi dear. There are two type of attachments for this vacuum cleaners to pick up the pets hair, fluff & so on.They call it"Turbo & Power Brush".Turbo brush operates with machines suction & Power one operates with small electric motor which is built in the unit. They work with the same prenciple. There is a belt drives the rotary brush.OK.there are two small yellow screw underneath the unit. Please undo them, take of the cover & clean the rotary brush, check for the belts tension. It should be enough tight to drive the brush. If not ask for spare part from Miele in your country. After cleaning please put it back in order. To test it,attached to the vacuum.Turn the power on for Turbo brush,as long as suction starts, brush should start turning too.For the Power one, there should be power button on the handle to turn it on & off.Press it.It should work.On both of the unit, brush should spin good & strong enough to do the job when it's attached the surface you are vacuuming.Check the brush after each use, cleaned if neccesary. I hope that helps.Thanks.

I need to remove the handle from the S7000 series vacuum cleaner to send it back to Miele as it doesn't work - how do I do that?

First, remove the upholstery cleaning attachment from the back of the vacuum. Next, move the cord to the side. In the recessed slot where the upholstery brush fits, you will see a small hole. Push a small, regular screwdriver in to the hole. At the same time, pull up on the Miele handle to disengage and to remove the handle from the body of the vacuum cleaner.

I did this by placing the vacuum on the floor with the handle down and pressing the screw driver against the floor with the blade of the screwdriver going into the hole. I held the vacuum with my feet and pulled firmly on the handle.
