I removed the back panel and all were seated properly seated. Is there another solution to this problem?

After 2-1/2 years of hassle-free use, mine is doing the same thing. I too opened the back panel as suggested and didn't see anything loose. I'd love to try and check underneath the glass, but I can't see to figure out how to pop the plastic out. Help! Would prefer to not spend money on fixing this if it's something I can do myself.

In the back of the printer is an access panel with one screw to hold it in place.
The outer side edges are held in place with it plastic tabs (which you can not see due to they are inside the printer. So carefully remove this panel without breaking the tabs. Look inside and you will see a ribbon connecting to a circuit board. This is probably loose or disconnected. The end of the ribbon is hard and not flexible. Push the end of this ribbon in the white plastic standoff slot. This ribbon sometimes comes loose when the top scanner cover is partially remove from the printer. I said, partially because if you needed to remove the top scanner completely, then this ribbon would need to be completely disconnected. You can also see, when the access panel is off, other wire connections connected to this circuit panel. Sometimes they also come loose or disconnect when the top scanner is partially remove. Connect them if they are loose or disconnected. I believe to solve your problem is the ribbon disconnected. Best wishes in solving your problem.

Lexmark X8350 with no software???

Please download the drivers from the below link.

You don't need software for printer, drivers will be enough to make it work.

Lexmark X8350 "communication not available"

I fixed this by completely uninstalling the Lexmark software, then unplugging the USB and restarting. I then installed the new Lexmark software that I downloaded from their site, make sure not to plug the USB back in until it told me to. It then detected the printer properly and started working.

Scanner

Try scanning from the image software you are using, not from the front panel buttons. Go to the TWAIN options and make sure your scanner is selected, then go to Acquire and the scanner software will start. Scan from there without using the scanner front panel.
