First thing I would do is run a free virus scan from Trend Micro called House Call.. It takes a while but is quite thorough.. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ Once complete and you find and eradicate any viruses, then you can investigate the sound problem.. Normally, the first thing I suggest you verify is that your sound volume isn't set to Mute of very low.. You can check that by selecting the START button, then CONTROL PANEL, then SOUND and AUDIO Device tab.. once there..youhave a number of options to do,... first off.. check speaker volume and make sure they are set to at least the midpoint and the mute box isn't checked. If that doesn't work..then chose the hardware tab and scroll thru the list until you find your sound device..If you highlight it, then select properties.. it will tell you if the device is working properly.. You can also select the Driver tab and update the drivers or roll them back .. These are a few things to try.. I would strongly encourage you to protect yourself by installing an antivirus program... There are many available but it is wise to have one.. Good luck..and I hope this helps you get your system going again..

I want to take off the recently visited sites on my google home page

Which browser ?
If you are planning on selling a computer or giving one away, you may want to consider removing all of your personal records from the computer before you share it with someone else so you can protect your privacy.

Even doing something as simple as clearing the history from your web browser can ensure that others who see the computer will not have access to the sites you visited, along with any usernames or passwords.
Create the menu tab on your homepage right click in the top toolbar you should see a number of toolbar options select the menu tab which will add File Edit View Favorites Tools and Help

If you use Internet Explorer, click the "Tools" menu.

Select "Internet Options" from the drop-down list and choose "Delete."
Click all the boxes in the window that appears and click "Delete" again.

For Firefox, press "Ctrl" + "Shift" + "Delete" to open the "Clear Recent History" window. Select "Everything" from the drop-down menu and select "OK."

For Opera, click the "File" menu. Click "Preferences" and choose "History."

Select "Empty Now." Safari

Double-click the "Safari" icon on your computer to open Safari.
Click the "Edit" menu.
Select "Reset Safari."
Chrome

Double-click the "Chrome" icon to open it.
Click the "Wrench" icon in the toolbar.
Select "Tools," then "Clear Browsing Data."
Select "Beginning of Time."
Click "Clear Browsing Data."

I am using DELL STUDIO laptop with Windows VISTA and recently i am facing issues in voice chat (Yahoo Messenger, Gtalk, Skype etc..). At the time of online voice and video chat we were not able to hear...

Most likely, it's not due to the computer, it's due to bandwidth. Either you're direct connection to the internet, or the bandwidth you pay for from your internet service provider...
1.) So, if you're connected wirelessly, try connecting directly with a CAT5(or 5E, or 6) ethernet cable, that will speed your connection up A LOT.
2.) If you ARE connected by cable, check your download/upload limits set by your internet service provider. If you have only dial-up, it probably won't be fast enough. You'd need at least a DSL or ADSL connection, cable broadband is best.
Hope that helps!

Check your Device Manager and verify that the network adapter is listed and it's driver is installed. If not, you will need to download the driver from another computer (connected to the Internet) to a USB flash drive and transfer it to this computer because you cannot get the Internet without the Network Adapters' driver. Go to the manufacturers website, search for your particular model of computer, select the drivers download section, and locate the network (LAN) driver. The shop who repaired your computer should of done this for you.
