First thing I would do is run a free virus scan from Trend Micro called House Call.. It takes a while but is quite thorough.. http://housecall.trendmicro.com/ Once complete and you find and eradicate any viruses, then you can investigate the sound problem.. Normally, the first thing I suggest you verify is that your sound volume isn't set to Mute of very low.. You can check that by selecting the START button, then CONTROL PANEL, then SOUND and AUDIO Device tab.. once there..youhave a number of options to do,... first off.. check speaker volume and make sure they are set to at least the midpoint and the mute box isn't checked. If that doesn't work..then chose the hardware tab and scroll thru the list until you find your sound device..If you highlight it, then select properties.. it will tell you if the device is working properly.. You can also select the Driver tab and update the drivers or roll them back .. These are a few things to try.. I would strongly encourage you to protect yourself by installing an antivirus program... There are many available but it is wise to have one.. Good luck..and I hope this helps you get your system going again..

How can I fix the error: "Proxy server not responding" on my Dell desktop?

Why are you running a proxy server? If you are on a home computer, sounds like a virus may be intercepting your traffic. Go into the internet settings and check the proxy settings. Write them down, just in case, then disable the proxy service.

Also, I'd install Malwarebytes to check for viruses and trojans.

Malls I am unable to log in my netflix account

Netflix offers users the ability to rent movies and TV shows through the mail on DVD or Bluray and also allows users to watch select shows or movies online using a computer or certain other devices. Occasionally users encounter errors when attempting to log in to their Netflix accounts. These errors can be as simple as an incorrectly typed password to more complex issues with the Netflix service itself.

Credential Problems b> Many login problems are caused by an incorrect email address or password when attempting to log in. This can be due to typos or other misspellings, or recent password changes that were forgotten. Netflix offers the ability to recover passwords and usernames via the "Need Help Signing In?" link below the login fields on the Netflix home page. Clicking the link allows the user to recover her password by entering her email address, and also gives the option to advance to a second recovery screen if she does not have access to that email address anymore. The second screen allows the user to prove her identity by entering the first name, last name and credit card number associated with the Netflix account. Service Errors b> Login problems occasionally occur due to errors with the Netflix service itself. When these problems occur, a message appears that explains a site error has occurred, directing the user back to the Netflix home page. The user should attempt logging in again in case of a one-time error, though site-wide service errors do occasionally occur. Depending on the nature of the error, once logged in the user may experience problems when trying to watch movies instantly or attempting to edit his DVD queue. Site-wide service errors do not affect the ability of Netflix to send and receive movies by mail. Account Problems b> If a problem exists with a user's Netflix account due to a failed payment attempt, the user can still log in but is directed to a page informing him of the problem instead of his standard account home page. Until the problem is resolved, he will be unable to watch movies instantly, receive DVD or Blu-ray discs from the service and will be required to return any movies currently at his home to avoid additional fees. Account problems can typically be resolved by authorizing Netflix to retry the last payment attempt on the user's credit card or by supplying a new credit card number for payment purposes. Device Connection Errors b> When attempting to watch movies or TV shows on Netflix-ready devices such as a Nintendo Wii, Xbox 360 or Roku streaming media player connection errors sometimes occur while the device attempts to log in to the user's Netflix account. These errors may occur because the Internet connection the devices use is not properly configured, limited bandwidth to and from the user's home or problems with the device-specific version of the Netflix service. If the device cannot connect and log in to Netflix, the user should check the device's Internet connection and try connecting again later.

I am using DELL STUDIO laptop with Windows VISTA and recently i am facing issues in voice chat (Yahoo Messenger, Gtalk, Skype etc..). At the time of online voice and video chat we were not able to hear...

Most likely, it's not due to the computer, it's due to bandwidth. Either you're direct connection to the internet, or the bandwidth you pay for from your internet service provider...
1.) So, if you're connected wirelessly, try connecting directly with a CAT5(or 5E, or 6) ethernet cable, that will speed your connection up A LOT.
2.) If you ARE connected by cable, check your download/upload limits set by your internet service provider. If you have only dial-up, it probably won't be fast enough. You'd need at least a DSL or ADSL connection, cable broadband is best.
Hope that helps!

My new work computer connects to my wireless home network, but doesn't display web pages. My wireless manager shows a strong connection, but it takes forever to display yahoo, then gives an "can't display...

Can connect to local but not Internet?
This is most likely due to a driver issue other than a settings issue. First off, if you are running your computer in selective startup, change it back to normal startup and reboot. If this clears the problem then great, you can go back to selective startup but be careful as to what services you shut down.
The easiest way to check if this is a driver issue is to update the driver for the device. This can be done at the Device Manager found in the control panel, (In XP, the device manager is in the “system” icon and under the hardware tab). Scroll down to the network adapters and click on the + sign. Double click on the adapter and choose to update driver, let it search the internet (windows update) if it wants to, if it finds an updated driver, allow it to install. If it does not find an updated driver, then maybe the driver you have is a recent one but it may be corrupt. If that is the case, then it would be better to right click on the adapter and choose uninstall, this will force windows to reinstall the device the next time it reboots, and again it will ask to search online for a fresh driver, choose yes and let it run. Once the device installs, try to connect to the internet.

GETTING ON INTERNET

Tom,
Sorry to hear about your wife. I assume that her computer was connected to the internet previously by your wife. You will need to know her password for the internet connection and how the internet was connected to the computer (phone line, cable, or wireless).

If it phone or cable line connect computer to cable, turn on computer, pick internet icon, and enter password when asked.

Most likely this will not work. Go to where she bought the computer or to any computer repair store for more assistance.

I have internet service with you. I want to know how do I get service for ny laptop

You can purchase a wireless home router and share your current internet connection between both computers. Most routers will cost less than $100, and will provide both wireless and wired connections on one device, so there would be no need to convert one of your computers.

All you have to do is connect your modem into the router's internet port, then plug your main computer into one of the other available ports. Setup your laptop to access via wireless, following the instructions in the user manual of the router, and you will be all set.

If you have anymore questions, please ask.
