Question about RCA HD52W59 HDTV Projection Television
I have a 52" RCA projection...HD52W67. Recently the convergence went out and me and a buddy searched for answers and fixed the problem...well sort of. Now the picture looks great again, however now the TV keeps shutting itself off after being on for a few minutes. The time the TV stays on is also getting shorter, it used to do about every hour, now it's down to about every 10-15 minutes. Please help...much appreciated!!!
This may be the shutdown circuit sensing a current overload, or any number of possible problems first lets start at your repair. Did you replace the convergence amps and the associated bias resistors? If you did, did you check to make sure you did not create any solder bridges while you were soldering the amps? Did you do an upgrade to your amplifiers i.e. STK329-110 to STK329-150? These questions are to find out if the amps could be the cause of your problem. There is also the slight chance that the amps themselves might be malfunctioning, even though they are working they might be drawing more current then they are suppose to. I would suggest that you put the old amps and the bias resistors back in and see if this takes care of your cut off problem, if it does I would purchase a new pair of amps and all new bias resistors and use those. "REMEMBER DO NOT USE THE CHEAP KNOCKOFF AMPLIFIERS!!" (This shouting is done for emphasis not anger). You may also want to check the IHVT (Integrated High Voltage Transformer) by doing a ring test, just to make sure there are no shorted turns in the IHVT.
I hope this helps,
