Question about Canon PowerShot SD850 IS Digital Camera

1 Answer

Not able to see the photographs on LCD/Camera Screen

I have Canon PowerShot SD850 IS camera, it's display is gone i mean I can not see photograph on the LCD. I believe it is because of moisture/water problem. As when I taking an snap and transferring it to laptop, it shows me photograph of same quality, but it is not showning on the camera screen. If anybody knows solution of this problem.

The lcd screen on my Canon Powershot SD850 IS camera also stopped working.

When it first happened it simply cut out a few times and came back on. I turned the camera off and back on and it cut out/came back and then went off. I suspected it was a moisture problem because it had recently been in my pocket when it was raining/humid and the outside of my pocket was minimally wet (just a few drops really). I immediately removed the battery and set the camera to dry out for about 24 hours.

When I turned it back on the screen came on for a brief period and went off, I removed the battery once again and left the camera to dry, this time for about 72 hours. Since then the screen has been mostly off but comes back on at times. With a bright light source shining on the screen, the image is very faint (it is not illuminated however).

The other features seem to be in working condition. However, the flash makes a click noise that I don't remember hearing, but I used the flash only when very necessary. But the a/v out, optical and digital zoom, settings - iso, macro, size as well as color accent/swap, video, sound, ect. all seem to work fine.

If it requires an lcd replacement it would be nice to be able to order the part (as long as it isn't too difficult to install) as opposed to sending away and paying a service fee.

    - Thanks, Adam

Same problem with my PowerShot SD750. The camera was in the bottom of my bag when a shampoo bottle decided to leak.

Everything about the camera works fine, but the screen is completely black. I can sort of see it when held at the right angle, in the right light, but for the most part it's black. No menu, no picture display, nothing.

It does still take pictures though, and when I load the memory card in my computer, they look great.....but seeing as how there is no view finder on this camera, i'm not able to see what I'm taking a picture of or what it looks like, until I load it to the computer.

I have a similar problem but I don't think it is moisture related. When I turn my SD850 on, the LCD screen is black in both shooting and playback mode. I can see all my old photos fine (i.e., scrolling back to the last photos I took a few days ago), but once I get past the last photo, the screen is black. Same thing in shooting mode - screen is black. I can take a photo (meaning camera seems works when I press the shoot button) but I only see black on the screen. When I press the diplay button, I see all the info show up on the screen and the menus also work fine. Any ideas? Is it possible my memory card is full (but then wouldn't the camera tell me that?

Any suggestions much appreciated. Catherine, NY

Hi

Its hard to say 100% without more information...

Can you take a picture and it looks good when you transfer it to your computer? Is that what you meant? Can you see the menus, or do you see nothing at all on the screen at any time?

Its possible your camera is in a 'power save' mode and the LCD is turned off to save battery power. Try pressing the "Disp" button once and see if it turns on. If not, press it again... did it turn on? This happens to a lot of people.

If that is not the solution, then please contact me and let me know.

Good luck from: Darntoothysam com (a digital camera repair business)

Display not showing while taking photo

Press the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera. This button turns the LCD screen on and off to save battery power. You would then use the "peep hole" (optical display finder) in its place.

When I turn the camera on (Canon Powershot A 80) purple and black stripes trouble the screen. The camera takes pictures anyway, but it is hard to see what photograph you make. Can anyone help?

This is known problem of ccd imager chip failure in Canon A80 camera and ccd imager chip will be replaced to fix picture problem.
Canon offers free of cost ccd imager replacement, click Canon CCD Imager Advisory for details.
Thanks.

No image on screen while photographing

Press the DISP button once while the camera is turned on.
You may have cycled the display to the off position...

Light displays on screen but no image

Can you see images taken earlier from memory in view mode ?
Can you access the menu and see it displayed on the screen ?
If yes to both, then your CCD sensor most likely is defekt.

No DIY recommended.

Canon A700 black screen when i want to take a picture

Did you accidentally press the DISP or DISPLAY button on the back of your camera? This button manually turns the LCD display on and off to save batteries. Pictures will still appear momentarily when shot.

Not able to copy the photographs from the meory card but able to see the sam in the Camera LCD screen

the problem may be that you have "locked" your memory, there is a little switch on the memory card you pull it up or down, up for lock, down for unlocking..  or the problem might be with your card reader..
