SOURCE: I own a classic Sansui

Hi mellemcee

Cool amp mate, and becoming collectable now to. Sansui amps from the era where the best in the world of HiFi. iT may have lost bias control to the offending channel, it may have dirty source switches, tape monitor switch, or even speaker switching. The speaker protection relay may also have a dirty contact, will usually burst back into life with a quick rotation of the vol control. Can you pin the problem down a little more with the info i have given you, try all the controls to see if it impacts on operations, you will need to fix those problems first. Low bias would make that channel sound distorted at low levels also. Is this what is happening to you??

How do i get a cd player to hook up to a sansui au 9900a amplifier as well as the sansui tu 9900 tuner

You can connect the CD player to the amplifier using a standard set of RCA cables (left and right channel / red & white connectors). Connect the CD output to an input on the amplifier (usually one designated for CD or possibly "Aux") Then select this input source in order on the Amplifier.

There would be no reason to connect the CD player to a Tuner. Not even sure a tuner whould have any inputs in order to connect a CD player.

Proper procedure for hook up to Au 719 sansui amp

This is an integrated amplifier so you connect both of your speakers to the speaker outputs making sure that you keep them in phase. Red or plus terminal on speaker to red or plus terminal on Amp and the same with the other channel. Then connect your input devices as they are marked on the rear of the amp. You didn't mention what devices you are trying to connect to it so give additional info if you need more help.

Sansui G-7700 digital display

Funny that you just posted. On Monday, I dropped off my G-7700 at The Audio Lab in Harvard Square, Cambridge, MA. http://www.theaudiolab.com/

As soon as I walked in the place I knew I was at the right spot. They service and sell some really high-end vintage units as well as carry brand new high-end audio equipment. $60/hr for service work. As a gauge, my G-7700 took 2hrs to do a complete overhaul, which included replacing some pots, re-soldering cold joints, calibrating the tuner and other components. i thought it worked really well before!

Experienced, knowledgeable, efficient.

Give them a call and ship your G-7700 to them. It's worth it.

I need a replacement volume control for a Sansui-AU-717.

Hi p00pmeister

This great old amp uses an Alps brand attenuator. This could be a little hard to find an exact fit replacemernt. Have you tried to clean the control. The can generally be restored by flooding the internals with CRC 2-26. If you have intermittent channels, check also the amp/preamp switch to the rear of the amp also.

Check out this Has some instruction on dealing with the disassembly of the attenuator

I am more than happy to answer any other questions you may have about it, just give me a hoy :) If you are still unsure, or have problems, then before you give a rating for this advice, please get back to me and we can try some more things.
Thanks for using FixYa, If you consider the advice I have given you as sound, a FixYa rating is a great reward for my efforts to help you. Cheers.

I own a classic Sansui intergrated amplifier (AU-717). It has a short in one channel. At low volume, the sound shorts out. I've had this unit for about 20 years now. Otherwise, it's a great product!

Try rick at stereomanuals.com
The shutdown would be from a voltage supply in the power amp seeing too heavy a load and "shutting down" so that the amp doesnt Fry
