Question about Hitachi 42EDT41 42 in. HD-Ready Plasma Television
I have a intermittent vertical black line down the center my TV. When the turn the TV on initially it is no line....2-3 minutes of play and the 1 inche black line appears down the center of the TV. What should I do? Or, How can I fix it?
I would suspect a connection breaking down as the set heats up. A shop will probably have to put the set in a stand to hold it while they check for loose connections or defective components inside. Not a DIY job by any means. If this line went completely through the picture either vertically or horizontally and stayed there then this would have indicated a failure in the Panel itself. A thin Line any where on the screen consisting of one pixel in width is a Panel Failure according to Hitachi.

It depends where the line is centered most, to the right or left of the center, there are buffer boards that control the vertical video, on the bottom part of the unit if you take the back off and look at the bottom part of the set you will see these address boards, they are usually about 2 inches wide and could be labeled J or K, if the unit is High Definition then you could have these buffer boards on the top part of the unit also

Hitachi did in fact stand behind their product and resolved the problem. My hats off to them! Panel was replaced due to faulty ribbon cable supplying signal from one of the drivers. Unfortunately for my specific issue there wasno other solution as the ribbon cable in sealed inside the glass panel.
