The only requirement for file sizes that large is that you format the drive using NTFS. FAT or FAT32 will not support files that large, so make sure you format NTFS :)

Hope this helps!

Ok, I think I know your problem is in initializing of your disk and because the size of your disk.

Reason:

Did not chose NTFS in file system when doing partition.

Once you have made the partition you can then "format" the drive to NTFS. I don't recommend using either the FAT or FAT32 file system unless you plan on using windows onboard back up system. For backing up your PC, third party software is best.

Solution:

How to properly format a Western Digital Hard Drive for WIN 7:

2. Read everything at least twice! Make sure you understand it.
On line "6" read closely that explains how to partition a large drive.

Now all is left to follow the instructions, don't worry you will be fine.

Sandisk 16 GB USB Drive wont accept large files says disk is full

What is the USB drive formatted as? Look in My Computer then right click the USB drive, select Properties. See what it says under "File System". My guess is the drive is formatted as FAT32. Now FAT32 has a size limitation of 4GB for a single file, which would explain the error. To get over this you need to reformat the USB drive as NTFS. Then it will accept the 6.95GB file. You can format the drive by right clicking it again and selecting "Format" ... choose NTFS from the drop down menu. Be aware that any data already on the drive will be wiped by the format so be sure to back it up before formatting.
