Are you using cordless phone? If yes then there is a wireless interuption between your cordless phone and wireless router. Normally Cordless is running at 2.4ghz same as the router. Its better if you can relocate the phone or change it with 5.8ghz cordless phone.

If you mean phone modem on PC then no. Check connection between pc and router by acessing the webinterface (instuctions in linksys user manual).

If all OK there then contact your ISP.

I have wireless connection with a 2 wire modem and every time my home phone [ cordless ) rings or someone is on it ,, i lose my internet connection . Ive put a splitter on the cords and everything and it...

The reason why your experiencing that problem was the cordless phone and the router that youre using has the same 2.4Gz frequency. So everytime the phone rings it interupts the wireless signal what i can suggest is if the phone is in between the computer and the router or if the phone is near the router move it away so that it wont interfere the wireless signal

Thanks for using Fixya.

Internet Resets When Phone Rings

Logon to your router and change the bandwith you're using you might be on the same bandwith as yor phone, so when you get a call on your phone, the wireless router will get interupted,
thats if your phone is wireless !
if it's a cable phone your splitter might be bad :D

hope this helped oh..
almost forgot

on how to acesses your router.

go to run dialog box in your start menu. then type in CMD to the box
then you'll get a DOS looking command prompt, Type in IPCONFIG

then look for Defualt gateway, looks somthing like this

192.164.1.1

tpye your defualt gateway into your http bar (the top bar you tpye www.lol.com in)

then you'll probably get a box with a logon name and password. the defualt for it is

admin
admin

or

admin
password

then after you've logged on you can look for the wirless tab and change the bandwith you're broadcasting on.

if you still cant acesses or cant find how to

go to portforward.com then lookup your model and it will show you what to do :]

I need to change the channel on my dlink 625 router..can u help?

I presume it's a cordless phone? If so, it's possible that it's interfering with the wireless signal. If that happens you will see the wireless connection being dropped - go into the wifi config utility and check how good the connection is. If this is the case, changing the channel may help. To do that, bring the router over to your PC and connect with an ethernet cable (just in case something goes wrong with the channel change and you lose the wireless signal.).

You need to find the "router homepage" in your web browser. If you don't know what it is, in windows click start -> run -> type "cmd" and press enter. In the command screen that pops up type "ipconfig" and press enter. It'll show you a few things. One should say "Default Gateway" followed by numbers.Write those numbers down (probably will be something like 192.168.1.254).

Open your web browser (IE, Firefox etc...) and enter the numbers. This will bring you to the router page. There should be an option like "Wireless" and under there you should see "change channel". It may be in the advanced option window.

IF your computer is NOT dropping the wireless signal when the phone rings, but the internet connection does drop - check the DSL signal light on your dlink. If it is flashing or not on, then the problem is with the DSL filters (small white connectors sent with your modem.). Always ensure any phone on the same line as the DSL is filtered or it will cause the internet connection to drop whenever the phone rings or is picked up.

Absolutely. Wireless LAN is on 2.4GHZ. You will want to get a phone at a different frequency.

Xbox live stops working

It is a conflict with your router and modem. If you have a WRT54G linksys router and a Ae60 modem then this conflict will happen. To stop it, buy a new modem or router OR connect to XBox LIVE wirelessly using the XBox 360 wireless adapter ($100).

Connecting ADSL wireless modem router to COMCAST

unfortunately you can't because the 2wire is a dsl modem it has to use the phone line to connect to the internet, it would be different if it was just a router but since it is a modem it needs that connection to the phone line in order to work

Belkin N1 Router connection drops when phone rings

You may have a phone line connected from the modem to a wall outlet. Count the number of cables coming out of your modem - you should have only three: the power cable (connects to the wall), Cat 5 (also connects to the wall), and ethernet (running from the modem to the router).

Intermittent Ring

Sounds like you are having a problem with the generated ring signal from the cable phone service. An old fashioned Ma-Bell ring signal is a pure 90v AC 30hz pulse. Your cable box needs to generate a simulated ring signal from a DC power supply. I have seen many examples of this fake ring signal not cooperating with specific phones. It's a long shot but your phones MAY have a setting for the phone line(s) (A/B) (Analog/Digital) etc... of you can find a setting dealing with the "CO line", "phone line" etc.. try changing it. I am surprised another phone in the loop will help the ring signal at all. I would think it could only weaken it. Try plugging your phone in question directly into the cable line instead of having the whole house connected. The ring signal may be trying to power too many devices or weakened by something connected to the network. Other than that, you are dealing with the ring signal generated by the equipment and I'm sure it's not adjustable.
