Washing machine stops on rinse on all cycles

this could be a timer problem, or the cold water may be shut off.....if it is advancing to the rinse point but not filling, then there may be a problem with the fill valve also. You may want to check the lid switch too, just to be sure it is making contact. From what you are describing it sounds like the problem with your washer could either be the lid switch or no cold water. However there are a number of other possibilities. I would recommend checking the lid switch first. Open the lid & you should see the lid switch actuator mounted on the lid. This is the probe that pushes in on the lid switch as you close the washer lid. Next you can check the lid switch. The lid switch is hidden under the top of the washer. You will see a small opening where the plunger comes down at & activates the lid switch. You should hear the switch click as the lid is being closed. You can also use a small non-metallic probe to push in on the lid switch. If the lid switch is not responding, you will need to replace the lid switch.Next you will need to check & make sure the cold water is turned on. You may want to turn the water off & take the cold water fill hose off of the back of the washer. Use a bucket & turn the water back on to check the incoming water pressure. If the water pressure checks good & the washer is not filling for rinse, you will need to replace the water valve. If you have good cold water supply & the lid switch checks okay you will need to access the inside of the machine to make more checks. Be sure to disconnect electrical power before attempting any repairs. Please resubmit your question if you need further assistance.Good Luck

Whirlpool Ultimate Care II Quiet Wash fills and does not drain

Check your lid switch. If your washer fills and doesn't do anything, or stops right after the wash cycle and then does not advance to the rinse cycle or drain, the problem is commonly caused by a lid switch malfunction. The lid switch is usually mounted under the washer top casing, on the right hand side on most top load models. It is activated by a plastic piece on the lid (called a "Lid Strike") through a small hole on the rim of the wash tub opening. In many cases the lid strike breaks off the lid, or the lid switch becomes loose and no longer makes contact. Inspect the lid to make sure the lid strike is still intact, and then inspect the mounting screws (adjacent to the small opening on the wash tub rim) and make sure they are snug. If you determine the switch to be defective, the following link explains how to replace one:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r385198-replacing_lid_switch

If the switch requires replacement, a new one can be purchased on line at searspartsdirect.com, pcappliancerepair.com, repairclinic.com, appliancepartspros.com. Just use your model number as your search criteria. All these sites offer competitive pricing, so shop all them for the best price.

NOTE: Some washer models have the lid switch located near either the left or right hinge of the lid. This type of switch is activated by a rod on the hinge pin. If not functioning, it can often be adjusted by bending the hinge rod until it engages the switch.

If you have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Washer is full but won't start cycle

This is a symptom of a defective lid switch. If you open and close the lid, you should hear a "clicking" sound as the lid switch is activated. If you do not hear the switch, check to make sure the lid strike in still intact. This is a small plastic piece mounted on the lid that pushes down on the switch through a slot on the wash tub opening on the right hand side. If this piece breaks off, it will give the same symptoms of a broken lid switch. Next, check the two mounting screws on the right side of the wash tub opening to make sure they are tight. These are the mounting screws for the lid switch. Sometimes they come loose and the switch does not make proper contact. If you attempt all these preliminaries, and the switch still does not seem to be working properly, replace it. A replacement can be found at searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your model number and the part will be located under the "Top and Cabinet" heading. Please post back with your number if you need assistance in determing part numbers. For instructions on how to replace a lid switch, click on the following link:

This is a very simple repair that doesn't cost a lot. If you require additional assistance, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Machine stops mid cycle and does not drain. machine is whirlpool AWM6100/S

If your symptoms are:

1. Washer fills
2. Washer agitates.
3. When washer gets to spin cycle, it stops.

This is a common symptom of a defective lid switch. If you try opening and closing the lid and do not hear a distinctive "clicking" sound, your lid switch may need to be replaced. Some lid switches are located on the right-hand side of the lid opening with a small slot. It is activated by a plastic piece called a “lid strike” on the lid itself. Make sure the lid strike is not broken off. This will keep the switch from not working. On some model washers the lid switch is located on the left-hand side, in the rear, mounted under the casing near the lid hinge. It is activated by a rod on the lid hinge. Sometimes the rod can be adjusted if it is not making good contact with the switch. In either case, if the switch is not activated, it will allow the washer to fill and maybe agitate, but will not start the rinse or drain cycles. If you diagnose it and wish to attempt the repair yourself, the switch costs about $35 and can usually be found at either repairclinic.com, or searspartsdirect.com. Just type in your COMPLETE model number (located around the lid opening) in the Search menu.

I hope you find this helpful. If you have any questions please let me know by posting comments.
