Do you have the eMachines recovery disc? If so, then you need to enter the bios of the laptop by pressing a speciffic key at the start of the boot process. It should tell you what key to press in the POST. Most likely across the bottom of the screen somewhere. The F2 and F10 keys are popular as well as the Delete key. Once you get into the BIOS, Locate the menu containing the boot sequence. Make sure to set the CD/DVD drive as the first boot device. Save the changes and exit the BIOS. Put the Recovery or Windows CD/DVD in the drive and follow the on-screen instructions.
I have been through this myself, the software you are missing is called
Launch Manager. Browse to Li 2727 on
http://ts.fujitsu.com/support/downloads.html and download the drivers
for vista, verified working on win7 ultimate. Install launch manager and
the wireless + brightness hotkeys will work again without any further
Good morning, luckypenny1! To answer your question- Most laptops do not show the caps lock status on the task bar. As you have probably noted, the caps lock indicator is located to the front, left of the keyboard. Not sure why they decided to place it there as it's usually covered by your left hand when typing. Maybe they built it that way for people that only type with their right hand? ;o)
