First you will need software on your computer such as Adobe Premier ( For advanced Editing) or you may also use Windows Movie Maker (For normal home videos). Then you will need the DV interface cable (firewirecable) that came with your camcorder. if you do not have it you may purchase it directly from JVC. You may visit www.jvc.com for this.

You will probably need a firewire cable, which I am not sure is bundled with the product or not
You can also transfer files using Windows Explorer (right click START button and select Explore)
Of course, your device will have to be detected first, for which you will need the USB - Firewire cable first.

Hi,

This camcorder was designed to transfer video using the DV connection. You will need an IEEE connection on your computer and 3rd party software. The IEEE-1394 connection cable and software are optional accessories and not included with this camcorder.

I'll let you know if there is any 3rd party software for your model which can help you transfer the video to your computer.

  • Priya darshan Sep 28, 2008

You can use Windows Movie maker, or Adobe premiere, which allows you to do all sorts of cool effects.

You can also go for Pinnacle Studio Version 10.5

Would like to connect onkyo TX-DS494 to my television to play the television sound thru the receiver

To get the sound into the Receiver you don't need to go from the TV. On the back of the cable box there are a pair of audio outputs. Connect those to the inputs on the Onkyo. When that is done you need to select the input on the Onkyo to match the input that you have wired it to. You will then have audio come through your system.

I HAVE A PANISONIC TCP50GT25 AND A PIONEER VSX509S AMPLIFIER.I HOOKED THE OPTICAL OUT ON MY TV TO THE IN ON THE RECIEVER AND THE IS NOTHING COMING FROM THE RECIEVER.WHAT AM I DOING WRONG...

First, stop guessing and crack the manual.

Is there a D in the model number?

Register and download the manual for the VSX-D509S for free at audio.manualsonline.com

Page 21 talks about assigning the optical digital audio inputs.

You might want to ponder why you would need audio from a TV in the first place if it originates elsewhere like a Cable Box. The fewer hops and interconnects a given signal takes on the way from the source to your ears, the better (and cheaper, too, as optical cable is expensive). Yoi COULD skip the TV entirely. Many don

I'm trying to hook up my Acer Aspire x1700 to a Yamaha HTR - 6130 AV Receiver using the Optical digital audio cable plug. Not getting any sound, not sure what source to set on the receiver.. talks about...

You can set the receiver to any source that uses a optical connection. Then make sure that whatever you select whether it be CD/DVD you also have the source connection set to optical too on the receiver setup menu.
That being said, after that is done you will need to set up the computer to output audio. That usually just involves changing the output mode on the computer and adjusting the levels...open the Acer audio managment application, choose the audio output mode to stereo or dolby digital and turn everything up on the computers level controls. Then, when you open whatever software you're going to use to play your discs you may also have to adjust the volume level there as well.

Want to listen to music while still watching football game

Some receivers with video switching have the option to stay on the video source when you switch to a different audio source, others don't. I have a Yamaha that will do this while my Kenwood will not because the CD and DVD input are one in the same. I guess it depends on what input you are using for your music input. If it's a DVD input it makes sense that when you switch the audio the video follows. Try connecting your audio source to an audio only input (say the CD input) and see if that will allow you to do what you want.

Assigning inputs or selecting the type of vidio stream i want to use for my dvd player.

Not sure if I understand completely, but if you want to watch a source on DVD then then it needs to have its a/v outputs connected to the DVD inputs on the rear of the receiver.
