You have to leave it on the choke setting in order to warm it up and keep the fuel line primed once it's been running and start's to sputter then move your choke lever to the open position. this allows the carb from being overloaded with fuel.. please rate this thanks.

I have a weed eater trimmer that wont start. ben sitting for a couple years and i replaced the fuel lines andcleaned the carb. still nothing, what do i do?

Try cleaning the spark plug, make sure it sparks. Put some fresh gasoline in the tank, check start stop switch.
A easy way to check whether the problem is related to carb or not is:
remove the spark plug put some fresh gasoline in the cylinder, put the spark plug back
pull the starter a few times if it starts for a few seconds it means is related to carb.
Be carefully when handling gasoline.

I am able to crank the trimmer but it does not stay on. in the past it worked just fine but sat unused for roughly 4 months and now this. we own a TB425cs string trimmer. how do i fix this issue?

1) Change out the old fuel (not just adding fresh but pouring out the old and replacing it entirely) and check the engine oil.

2) Check muffler and/or spark arrestor screen for restrictions.

3) Clean and reinstall spark plug (check gap).

4) Replace inlet screen INSIDE the carb. (It is located directly under the inlet needle.)

Try each of these as needed.
Hope this helps!

Despite new spark plug properly gapped, cleaned & lightly oiled filter, fresh gas, and CHOKE IN PROPER POSITION, my trimmer (purchased 10/9/2004) still hesitates and then stalls. Cannot rev it up. Is...

Check your spark, as you may need to respace the magnetron on this if it isn't sparking continually. Just loosen the two bolts holding it on, place a notecard (3 x 5) in between it and the flywheel and then tighten it down and against the notecard. This likes to loosen up on small engines and is overlooked easily. Let me know how this turns out.

Troy Bilt 4CC Trimmer - starts fine but won't turn off - TB425CS

Try cleaning up the switch button with Electronics Spray - you can get it from Wal-Mart for $3.
Usually is a bad contact or could be a broken wire .

Bad running craftsman 25cc trimmer 4 yrs old

You need to do a couple of things to get your trimmer back on track. First of all pour out the old gasoline and get rid of it. Then remove the spark plug and go to an auto parts store and get a new one just like the old. If you have your manual, check to see what the recommended spark plug gap is gap it to that specification.

Finally remove the air filter and clean it or replace it as necessary.

Once that is all done, but some new, fresh gasoline. Then put in the new plug and the new gas and u will be good to go. please rate this answer as a FixYa cause it is.
