Just hold the menu and centre at the same time this will reboot it and it should be fine

Same thing just happened to me last night. You just need to reset it. Toggle the hold switch on and off, then press and hold down the menu and center button at the same time. Release when the apple logo appears.... This should work

This happened to mine the songs got a virus or somthing, this is how i fixed mine
1. plug your ipod into your computer.
3.click on your ipod on the left side (ipods name,conected)
4click restore in the middle
it will delete all your music pics videos....... but after that your ipod should work like new
