SOURCE: Looking 4 a TFTP server for upgrades

There must be a tftp server on your network, that must have files on the server that are needed top upgrade the firmware. Ask your admin, as they will have the IP address. I can refer you to a tftp program you can install on a server, if need be.

The network switches must be set up to allow the phone to connect to the phone system. You should contact your vendor for this support.

SOURCE: main unavailalbe resetting phone

Hello Roshani Ameresekere,

Welcome, and thank you for using FixYa!

To answer your question: Your phone has lost connection to the VOIP network.
These types of phones use DHCP to assign an IP address to themselves from your VOIP network, usually by means of a switch or router. When they lose connection to this switch or router, they cannot communicate with the VOIP network and load their network environment, called PXE. This in turn loads the phone.
Try replacing the patch cable on the phone between the phone and the wall. If that doesn't resolve your issue call your Telcom Specialist who installed the VOIP Network. He will need to test the phone, switch, Firewall, and VLAN to make sure the phone hasn't died or his configuration hasn't been hosed in the router or VLAN. He may also need to reset his VOIP box.

Have a great day!

Non system disk or disk error' 'replace and strike any key when ready' 'Media test failure Check cable' When l performed the Boot Utility test it returned an error message 'f

Sounds like a disk issue. It kind find the OS so it's then trying to PXE boot (boot from the network). Have you changed the boot order recently? or do you have a USB key connected to your server? are you able to connect to the management interface (hp ilo, dell drac) to see if you had any raid or other hardware issues?

NEC DT700 series message: SIP Server Not Found

The phone is not being routed to the SV8000 Series SIP server. You could try to reset the phone to default in case it is holding a previous setup and attempt to allow it to pick up the new settings. While the phone is searching for DHCP press Hold, transfer, *,# The display should show ADMIN Put in the password 6633222 (Admin default) You should gain access to to the phone system Press 3 then Press 3 to access factory default. Ok that and the phone will preform a memory wipe. It should then do a restart and try to pick up the settings. If you cant access Admin (Have they changed the PW?) or it doesn't work then the phone needs deleting and resetting from the SV8000 series server, the ports for Voip need passing through the firewall or your phone needs to join a VLAN. None of these things you can do if you don't have access to these systems or the knowledge to program.

I am trying to change the cfe on my netgear wgr614 V6 tdc but the jtag doesn't see it. The ends I am trying to get to is putting dd-wrt on it. Any ideas?

Once you've got a serial console attached you can access the CFE which is a bit like the bios of the WGT634U. Start up minicom and apply power to the router while holding Control C. You should see something like the following:

CFE version 1.0.34 for BCM95365R (32bit,SP,LE)
Build Date: Tue Feb 24 03:21:41 CST 2004 (root@jackylinux)
Copyright (C) 2000,2001,2002 Broadcom Corporation.

Add MAC client version(DNI).
Initializing Arena.
Initializing Devices.
et0: Broadcom BCM47xx 10/100 Mbps Ethernet Controller
CPU type 0x29007: 200MHz
Total memory: 0x2000000 bytes (32MB)

Total memory used by CFE: 0x81BB1280 - 0x82000000 (4517248)
Initialized Data: 0x81BB1280 - 0x81BB3E90 (11280)
BSS Area: 0x81BB3E90 - 0x81BB45D0 (1856)
Local Heap: 0x81BB45D0 - 0x81FB45D0 (4194304)
Stack Area: 0x81FB45D0 - 0x81FB65D0 (8192)
Text (code) segment: 0x81FB65E0 - 0x81FFFFB0 (301520)
Boot area (physical): 0x01B70000 - 0x01BB0000
Relocation Factor: I:E23B65E0 - D:01BB0280

configure vlans
*****************************************************************
*********************** VLAN Driver initial ********************
*****************************************************************
Process LAN port(2-5) vlan Architecture...

SUCCESS: trying to add LAN port

Process WAN port(2-5) vlan Architecture...

SUCCESS: trying to add WAN port
SUCCESS: enable ports success
configure vlans...done
Automatic startup canceled via Ctrl-C
CFE>
Now you can get a listing of the available commands by typing "help". If you want to boot a kernel from a tftp server do the following:

CFE> ifconfig eth0 -addr=192.168.1.1 -mask=255.255.255.0;
CFE> boot -z -elf -tftp 192.168.1.10:vmlinux.gz
Or you can automate the process by setting STARTUP using:

CFE> setenv -p STARTUP "ifconfig eth0 -addr=192.168.1.1 -mask=255.255.255.0;boot -z -elf -tftp 192.168.1.10:vmlinux.gz;boot -elf flash0.os:"
The router will now try and retrieve a kernel image called vmlinux.gz using tftp from 192.168.1.10. If this fails it will go ahead and boot the kernel on the flash. The is quite handy as in conjuction with a NFS root, it means you can do all your development without modifing the original firmware.
