Re: orange light blinks 7 times yet printer printed fine...
Normally the people getting this are people who refill carts, obviously canon wants you to buy their new carts that cost nearly as much as the printer. While you can refill the pixma 1880 carts, it has been my experience (3 times in 2 years) that you can only get 4-6 months out of them because of that strip on the back of it, how many times i refill them seems to be irrelevant.. I am certain this is an intentional design flaw that Canon built in. If i keep pulling the cart out and putting it back in it will work again, but only for a couple of days until the problem returns. However, if you are NOT a cart re-filler-guy, then my post can't be the solution.

Eight flashes: Waste ink tank almost full
The printer has a built-in waste ink tank for the ink used
during print head cleaning. Eight flashes indicates that the waste ink tank is
nearly full. Press the RESUME/CANCEL button to cancel the
error so you can continue printing. Before the waste ink tank becomes completely
full, contact a Canon service representative.
Canon recommends that you call for service as soon as this
error occurs. Once the waste ink tank becomes completely full, printing will no
longer be possible.
It indicate that your print head may defective probably cause by
electrical connection, u can try to unplug the print head and clean the
electrical contact part with dry paper and install it back. Make sure
the contact part is fix into the holder completely.
