2004 sebring 2.7 has grating noise when cold. Engine is quiet once it's warmed up. One mechanic told me belt and tensioner need to be replaced. Another told me this is a internal noise common

Cams are WELL known for knocking on these engines. It isnt a sticky piston ring or timing. The cams have a wear point on the lobes and will make noise till warm and the oil is warm. I habe worked on many of these engines. Best bet is to run a good oil and a little heavier year around like 10w 30 high mileage oil. Even lucas oil additice helps with the noise because it doesnt drain down like oil and keeps the lodes and lifters oiled better.

How do I replace the chuck in my drill? It is making a grinding noise.

Chucks DON'T make grinding noises!!!!!

The grinding noise is probably coming from the REDUCTION GEARBOX which is located behind the chuck [the shaft upon which the chuck is mounted comes out of the gearbox].

There are usually four (4) screws mounting the gearbox housing/cover onto the motor/handle section of most drill/drivers.

The cause of most grinding nioses originating in the gearbox is lack of lubricating grease between moving parts.

My 2002 ford expadition is still making the grinding whoop whoop noise, I took it to a machanic and they said it was the roter or brakes or ball joints, so I got all replaced on both sides and it is still...

If the noise only happens when you are moving, and it changes with the speed of the truck, its something that is connected to the wheels.
Road speed does not affect suspension noises like ball joints and spindles.
So it would be something like the brakes, axle joints or bearings, or something in the differential where the axles come together.
If the truck is 4wd you have front hub bearings behind the brake rotors, and regular bearings if it is 2wd.

this sounds alot like my 04 f150. if it has the iwe vacuum axles then likely the problem is the 4x4 solenoid. on the f150 it is on the passenger strut mount behind the batt. the new parts have a water shield to prevent ingestion. they cost about $20-30 very easy to change under 10 min. you likely would also need to change the iwe on the passenger side. again fairly easy to change but involves removing the ball joint and tie rod end to get clearance to it..

The tension pulley on the Ford products is famous for wearing out. If you are positive about where the noise is coming from, then the only real solution is to purchase a new pulley from the dealership. Installation involves removing tension from the serpentine belt, unbolting the old pulley and installing the new one. Put the serpentine belt back in place and you are done. I have tried in the past to lubricate those pulleys both on and off the car - it never worked for any length of time. Seems like once the bearing is worn to the point of making noise there is no saving it. Let me know if this helps you out or not.

Grinding noise on 2002 Olds Bravada

Try making tight turns to the right and then to the left. see if the grinding noise comes and goes. It could be your C/V joint and they need to be replaced. The noise will only come when your making the tight turns, you don't have to go fast. Walking speed will do and you can hear it with the window open or someone walking beside the Bravada. Good luck and keep me posted. Be glad to help.

Harley davidson how to change tensioners

If you have chain Tensioners then you have a Twin cam. This is NOT a job for an amature. Its necessary to take out Push rods which means remove heads or cut your pushrods and reinstall adjustables. You need to take out your cam plate,re align oil pump..Its not a simple job for a novice. If you have noise they have already exploded or are about to. Do not ride your bike..those plastic pieces can get sucked into the oil pump and do major damage. I told that to a customer that was going on a trip he did not heed warning. He got 75 miles they exploded and he bought a new motor.

Harley davidson how to change tenttionners

Is your bike STOCK?? Have the Cams been changed? Do you have Stock Cam CHAINS & TENSIONERS, or is it updated to GEAR DRIVEN Cams? Either way, you have a Cam and or Lifter Problem, and if you are not a Harley Mechanic with access to Shop type tools and Equipment, then I suggest you take you Harley to a reputable repair shop for diagnosis and repair. DO NOT CONTINUE TO RIDE WITH THIS PROBLEM, IT WILL NOT FIX ITSELF and will only cause you MORE EXPENSIVE DAMAGE. Good Luck! -Dr.Mark
