My zune has been working fine for months now. I have a Ford Focus with Sync in it and all of a sudden when I plug it in it says bad media. My zune gives me an error mesage that says "the item is missing or can't be played". I did some reset that wiped out all my songs and then had to load them back on. This worked for one day and then it started doing the same thing again! I reset it again and now it won't let me sync anything with it. It tells me "Can't sync with your zune until it's reformatted". What else can I do? I am going crazy without it! Please Help!!!!
This stuff just recently started happening to a lot of us... My **** started acting up yesterday... First was giving me some sort of error telling me it cant access my zune please disconnect and try reconnecting........ Now I am getting the same error you guyz have been getting talking about reformating.... i am going to call tech support today EVEN though I know their lame solution will be just to reformat... I want a root cause for this stuff.. Probably was some sort of windows update ****

YOu need first download zune software .
sync the phone ( connect the phone ) , go through the initial set up . Then you can drag and drop the picture on to the zune sofware and on the preview of the picture , right click and select option sync with " your phone name " .
IN the picture i have name my phone as Bryan G Wp7 .
You may have to attempt a Hard Reset if this issue is persistant.
This will erase everything on your device, as a warning please be certian you have backup copies or this is a last resort.

Press and hold the back button
Press and hold up until it reboots
Depending on which Zune you have, immediately do one of the following:
If you have a Zune 4 GB, Zune 8BG, or Zune 80GB, immediately press
and hold the Back button Back at the same time as you press the right
side of the Zune pad and the Play/Pause button. Continue to hold these
buttons until the Zune device restarts and you receive the following
message: “Clearing contents. Please wait.”
If you have a Zune 30GB, immediately press and hold the Back button

the center of the Zune pad. Continue to hold these buttons until the
Zune device restarts and you receive the following message: “Clearing
contents. Please wait.”
As a last resort or if you are receiving error code C00D2772, erase the
device, and then sync your content again. To do this, follow these
Start the Zune software on the computer.
Connect your Zune device by using the Zune Sync Cable.
Click Settings, and then click device.
Click SYNC OPTIONS, and then click ERASE ALL CONTENT.
When you receive the following message, click Yes:
Please Confirm. Are you sure you want to erase the contents of the connected Zune?

minutes. Do not move or disconnect the Zune device until the message
There are two ways to format an Mp3 player - one on the computer
itself, and one in Windows Media Player. Both methods will end up
erasing all the songs on the player, but the player will be "good as
new" after that. Sometimes reformatting in this manner will override
the player's native formatting and cause problems - this can be
reversed in most cases by updating the player's firmware. Firmware
upgrades are available from most manufacturers' websites. WARNING: The following procedures will erase all songs on the player.
Check if the file system is NTFS. If yes, format it to FAT or
FAT32. - Connect player to computer, double-click my computer, right
click on icon of mp3 player and select format. This only applies to
Windows-based computers. You can also format the player in Windows Media Player itself: Connect your Mp3 player to the computer and open Windows Media
Player. Click on the Sync tab. Pull down the drop down menu underneath
the Sync tab by moving your cursor over the Sync tab and left clicking
on the little black arrow underneath the Sync tab. Highlight "name of
Mp3 player here 1GB" (wording may vary slightly), and then select
"Format." - this should erase everything. -Tha Mp3 Doctor
Make sure the hold/lock is not engaged
Make sure the OS is compatible
Either the device is bad, the pc port is bad, or the software is faulty. Try connecting to different usb port, then a usb port on a different pc with a compatible os. If still not recognized, then there is physical damage to player.
Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
