Question about Mitsubishi CS-40503 TV

1 Answer

TV shuts off while watching.

Our tv has been wonderful since 1995 and in the last month has started shutting off while watching it. Similarly, we often have problems getting it to come on. So far, it has eventually come on, or come back on, but the problem is happening more and more frequently. Ideas? Worth fixing? Thanks for all ideas, Kris

Could be any number of things, none of them easy to diagnose. Unless your a TV repairman it's probably not worth fixing. It will cost tou more in repairs than a new TV.

If it's that new call the place that it was purchased and see about manufacturer warranty... It should have a one-year parts and even that will help...
The problem you're describing is likely the center led or prisim. The unit thinks there is a tape in the tape path and attempting to load it. Not an expensive repair but highly complicated for the average person...

The average life of a picture tube now days is only 6 to 7 years, base on the symptom and the age of the set I hate to tell you but your picture tube is bad and it has to be replaced but a new picture tube for this set would cost more than a brand new television,I would suggest not to spend any money and invest in a new set.Sorry
