CANON PIXMA MP 160,CAN'T SCAN

I already tried reinstalling the software
I checked all the cables,it's all connected
Copy & Print well, just the scanner is the probs..
It always says "there is no communication between scanner & computer".
Pls. help...

    When I scan, an error comes up on the monitor screen " Cannot communicate with the scanner.Cable may be disconnected or scanner maybe turned off. Check status. Scanner driver will be closed. Code : 2,155,0

    I have the same problem. All of the cables are connected and the software has been uploaded. The printer works perfectly and I can copy the document as well however when I try to use the scanner I get the error message cant communicate with scanner and computer. Can anyone help?

    my printer won't scan. it say no enough space on disk...what was that supposed to be??what should i do??

    I have the same problem. Canon says to uninstall, reinstall, blah blah. It never helps, and they just keep you going in circles with the stupid tech support "scripts" that they read through.

    Is there any REAL fix?

    I bought an HP Pavilion tx 1000 tablet notebook with pre-installed Vista. I installed the driver for Canon PIXMA MP160 but scanning does not work. There is no problem with printing, though. I have already tried to re-install but it does not work, either.

Scanning can be performed with the MP Navigator software. Please open the MP Navigator from your Desktop or the Canon Utilities listing of the Start Menu (Windows) or Applications folder (Mac).

I can copy but can't scan
What OS does your computer have? Can you launch a scan from your computer (not the buttons on the all-in-one)? (This will work if the scanner driver is installed.) You should always do this at least once. How is the scanner connected to the computer? You may want to try a new USB cable and a different USB port. (Scanning requires bi-directional communication with the computer. Thus long USB cables and USB hubs may not work when scanning.)

To launch a scan from the scanner, make sure that you have the MP Navigator software installed. It is available here: http://www.usa.canon.com/cusa/support/consumer/printers_multifunction/pixma_mp_series/pixma_mp450#DriversAndSoftware . This software includes a monitoring program that "listens" for the button press. Depending on your OS, a button press should launch a query for the desired action. In some cases, you may need to set up the buttons in the Canon Scan Gear software first. (Launch MP Navigator and then look for the Setup menus.)

Will it copy standalone?If it does.
Then it is a software problem or bad cable.
If so you need to uninstall the MP navigator and reinstall without an usb cable attached.Attach a good cable and let Windows install the correct drivers

Canon mp 830 will not scan but will print
Uninstall the software and reinstall. Use an ethernet cable and try scanning. If that does not work then your scanner feature has a problem. Probably very expensive so I suggest you go to the Epson site and look under Clearance. New/Refurbished have a 1 year warranty, replacements are quick and free shipping both ways. A All-In-One is $45 shipped, the ink costs more than that. Check this website for CISS system which saves lots of money.

Cannot scan to pc

I can't copy or scan but I can print.
I had the same problem on my Mac.  I downloaded two things off Canon's website and all is now working:-
1) Scanner driver (ScanGear for Mac OR MP Drivers for PC) 2) MP Navigator software
Visit: http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0010249.asp  and choose your drivers.
Restart your machine (with the MP40 switched off) after downloading Switch on, and press Scan... et voila!
NOTE: after putting my Mac in slep mode, the scan button didn't function, but all I had to do was switch the MP450 off then on again for my Mac to recognise it.
