Hook up the netowrk cable to the Internet/WAN port on the router. The take a network cable and connect it to a port on the router , the other end into your NIC card on your computer. Restart all units and you should be able to get online.

Contact the cable company and tell them you have a router connected to your modem - they will tell your modem to access the router for it to work.

Trying to hook up a linksys wireless-g 2.4 ghz to a dsl modem for wireless how do i do that

Connect the DSL modem with a LAN cable to the WAN port on the Linksys wireless router. If you have not already configured the Linksys wireless settings, this is the next step.
To configure the wireless router and prevent unauthorized access to your wireless network, please click on this link and follow my instructions :-

Need to set up a wireless connection

Do you have the CDs that came with the router and the adapter?  If you do, you can run the Router CD on your PC upstairs to configure the Router, and Run the adapter CD on the a610 to configure the adapter. If you don't have the CDs, I need the brand and model number of the wireless router, and the model number of the linksys adapter.  If you need help physically installing the card, let me know.

I have a linksys wireless G 2.4 ghz broadband router hooked up to my computer at home and do not have the password in order to use my new HP notebook. How can I log on?

i guess u mean the encryption key

it should be written in the back of your router. if it not there

then just reset the router by holding the reset button for 30-60 seconds and then release at that point wait a little bit and then try to connect again.

if u need any help doing the steps or if u need any further help with the this issue please let me know

cheers

I got a linksys router and no disk and i got a wireless laptop and the lights when come on the router but no connection

Try a reset on the router.

You should also setup the router for wireless security as well. Therefore your the only one with the password to use your wireless connection. So no one near your place can steal and use your wireless Internet connection.

Also changing your SSID is a good idea.

Try this: http://www1.linksys.com/support/troubleshoot/wireless/wireless_router_config/index.html

Want to purchase a wireless router to connect my compaq presario f500 to another desktop computer

Hi,

Most Wireless Routers by LinkSys, D-Link and NetGear are pretty good and stable. Personally, have tried LinkSys WRT54G (as a repeater), WRT300N and NetGear MR814.

Hope this be of initial help/idea. Pls post back how things turned up or should you need additional information.

Good luck and kind regards. Thank you for using FixYa.

If you have more than one computer on your network, try disabling the firewalls on all computers and trying again. If this works, then you need to adjust your firewall settings to allow your network to function properly. If this does not work, you may have to log into your linksys router and check the wireless settings.

Let me know what happens.

sometimes the cd doesnt work you will have to go to 192.168.1.1 and it will bring up your router configurations and then go in to the wireless setings and configure those. some laptops are not compatable with linksys you might have to get a wireless card for your laptop.

Well Betty can you tell me what type of laptop do you have? Is it fairly new. Some laptops already have wireless cards installed in them.
However on the PC not the laptop...... before hooking anything up insert the software CD from linksys. This will advise you when to hook it up and should also give you some very good pictures on how it should look.
Now provided this goes as simple as it sounds lets reboot that laptop and see if it does not see the wirless router you just set up. If it doesnt I can try and assist you with plan B.
The goal here is to stay away from the difficulties of alot of settings. Good Luck and I will be watching for your response.
I wont see this until tommorrow evening as I am trveling to some sites and wont land in my motel until evening.
