Is the washer leaking? If so, where is the leak coming from? If this is a matter of the washer trying to fill, but never quite gets there, or the water level steadily drops during the wash cycle, you may have a condition known as "siphoning". The following link explains this:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r587481-prevent_washer_siphoning

Hopefully, this is just a simple drain hose installation issue. I would start by lifting the drain hose in the stand pipe. If you hear a sucking sound as you lift the hose, you had a vacuum on the line because there wasn't a sufficient air gap to allow proper drainage. Make sure you follow the instructions in the link I provided and leave the proper air gap. Also, do not seal the top of the pipe and your problems should go away. If I'm incorrect in my assessment, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

That might be when yall put back the case yall pinched the tubing going back to the water level control. Could be sediment in the tub in which case you simply blow throw the hose and remove all water to the tub and try again. OR the tubing has come off there or gotten a hole in so the air pressure won't build inside it to kick the water switch over to wash mode at the proper water level. Might even be a bad water level switch but I would cheack all the above mentioned before buying any parts.

Fridgidare washer front load won't spin & there's water in the tub. It's about 10 years old

If it's that old, you're better off buying a new unit. You'll spend about half the cost of a new one fixing it.

How do you find something stuck between the tubs

Does it fill and wash, but just won't spin the clothes out? If so, you will need to replace the lid switch.

My maytag mtw5600tq1 washer won't hold water. Its

Hi,
Its sounds like you have a siphon going on, this happens when the drain hose it too low during fill and as the water enters the unit it exits through the drain hose. To stop this the drain hose needs to be higher than the tub itself, meaning: raise the drain hose behind the washer to about control panel area. This will or should stop the siphon effect and allow the water to remain in the tub. If the drain hose is low this siphon will start again.
I hope this helps

Whirlpool top loading washer, LXR9245EQ2, quit agitating, spinning and makes a clacking noise, pump looks like it's still holding the water in the tub though and won't pump out?

There are two clips that hold the pump to the motor, remove it and inspect, turn pump axle in either direction. If not replace the pump. However if you remove it you may find a sock or something in which case you can remove item and put back into service. If jammed you need to replace with a new pump. Good luck, masta tech
P.s.if water remains in tub it has something blocking it, be ready to capture any water in tub when removing hose clamps. If it a small amount you may be able to just lean it backward to hold water.

Will not fill with water but works on spin cycle

If your washer won't fill with water, but works in the spin cycle then the washer is sensing that water is in the tub. If there isn't water in the tub, then it is probably a sensor. If there is water but the spin cycle doesn't get it out, then look at the pump or control board.

Washer will not hold water

You need to check drain hose, the drain hose needs to be above the tub. If it isn't the water will just drain out when you fill

I NEED TO CHANGE THE DOOR SEAL ON A HOTPOINT WF 250 WASHING MACHINE. I HAVE THE SEAL BUT JUST NEED SOME DIRECTION THANKYOU

turn off at mains
undo clamp that holds seal to cabinet and peel seal away from cabinet.
take worktop off
undo clamp that holds seal to tub and seal will then come away
on new seal, lubricate the slot in the seal that goes onto lip of tub with washing up fluid
starting at top, insert slot in seal onto lip of tub and work you way round in both directions till seal is entirely on tub.
replace clamp
fit seal to cabinet (this is easy) and refit outer clamp.
test on rinse cycle as water level is higher. water will foam till washing up fluid is washed away
