Question about Ryobi 18-inch Electric Chainsaw Chain Saws

Ryobi pcn 4040 chain saw

My saw starts ok but when I try to cut with it the chain stops, I think the engine seems to be struggling to keep the chain turning, the rotating section were the drive is gets very very hot and it smokes quite badly, this machine is not very old and has not had a lot of use, I have made sure there is sufficient chain oil and also that the safety guard is in the correct position, any ideas?

I have a 4545 with the same problem. The chain brake does not release properly unless I physically pull the brake bar towards the handle. As per the other solution, I've got the brake bar wired to the handle to hold it off. Totally defeats the safety aspect, but at least the saw cuts logs. As for the automatic oiling ...........

I had the same problem with PCN4040. I cut the band brake off, this means that the brake no longer works, so when the saw starts it's 'live'. So a bit of extra care and common sense is required when starting the machine.
    Remove the cover.
Cut the spring brake (carefully - not much room).
    Remove band brake.
    Replace cover.

I have the same model chainsaw with the same fault. The brake is not releasing when the brake handle is pulled right back. I can only run mine if the brake handle is pulled back to the main handle with a tyrap - defeats the object of the auto-brake completely. Design fault I reckon.

I have a Yellow Stone APW-150a pressure washer bought in 2005. The hose is cracked at the fitting that attaches to the washer. Can it be replaced or repaired?

Though I have never heard of Yellowstone appliances, I am pretty sure there is a way to get replacement parts from the company spare parts department or from other sources who sell these pressure washers. If not, try the Internet, or try the Speed shops where they sell these to people who pressure wash their cars/trucks. I am also sure there are other hoses not necessarily for the Yellowstone brand but fit perfectly well on them. Find out where they sell other brands and take your washer to them, ask them if they can sell you a hose with the right connectors to fit your washer. No salesperson can refuse to sell you a good bargain.

Talon electric chainsaw has no power, changed the fuse etc...any ideas??

talon chain saws have two control switches before they will start. One is the trigger that you pull and the other is a button or lever that has to be held in at the same time. These two controls mean that you have to have both hands clear of the chain before it works.

How do i fix my powerwasher

If it is electric it will stop every time you release the hand piece. If it is engine driven then check the throttle setting as it should unload the pump and go to idle.

How can I obtain a replacement wheel for a Strathwood Basics Hardwood Chaise Lounge - we have three of these and one has a broken wheel

call the manufacturer. check out you large local hardware shop for their range of castor wheels . try a shop that specialises in wheels and castors or check out a furniture hard ware shop. some office furniture supply shops have castors that may do the job. Remember in trying to get 1 it may be easier to get 4 new ones of a different style that will fit the hole.
