Make power off the printer, and unplug it. Then open the top cover, or the cover from where you install the new cartrdige.

Then use machine or kerosene oil with a cotton and gently rub/wipe out the roller. If still getting the lines, then it need to be reinstall there and clean with alcohol or spirit.

I always recommend that paper jams be removed in the direction the paper would normally travel. Forcibly removing jams generally will not damage rollers, as the hardware tend to cause paper to tear before anything breaks. Removing paper jams in the wrong direction however can break one-way "finger" paper path sensors occasionally. If you are not experiencing a jam every single print, you are probably in good shape.

As for cleaning the rollers, if you have taken the rear door off the printer you are halfway there. You should be able to turn the rollers in one direction or the other by hand. There are plenty of products out there to clean rubber rollers (I use Blow-Off Rubber rejuvenator) but rubbing alcohol on a cloth can work as well. Turn the rollers to get at the entirety of them and scrub along the length with an alcohol dampened rag.

I would make sure to keep all the rollers in the printer as clean as possible, the feed rollers especially. Don't store the checks in a damp environment prior to printing. If you do get a new printer , be sure to buy specific to your needs.

I have paper in it but it keeps saying"out of

Hello
you can solve problem by purchasing a cleaning compound designed to clean printer rollers, and then cleaning printer as per the directions. I think that some of the print paper leaves some sort of residue on the rollers that prevents them from picking up the sheet, thus deluding the printer into thinking that it is out of paper.
or you can get help from this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9cCC0cCmBs8
Hope this helps, if so do appreciate my effort by rating the solution Good Luck, Cmptrlink

Black marks on the printing

You could have a build up of ink on your rollers, and as the paper is pushed through it is leaving marks. It could also be causing your ghosting effect or double lines. By having your printer cleaned by a certified technician it should reslove your issue.

One line per page of printing has a white line through the printer line. It is not in the same spot on each page.

Clean the rollers inside the printer. That should remove anything that is blocking the ink flow onto the paper

When the printer starts to print, one line gets printed- then the paper sticks. The printer says "Clear the Carrier Stall". what does that mean?

Paper Jam...try to clean your printer, get a can of dust off (compressed air) and blow it out. Then take a damp (unplug printer first) and clean the paper rollers. Keep an eye out for anything sticking to the rollers, ink mist build up, or sticker from labels, or just glue from stickers.
Hope this helps you, please leave a rating.

if older printer or well used printer (All laser printers if they have print quality issues - it is mostly either the toner or the fuser). the only way to tell is get (borrow) a toner and see if problem is the same or remove the fuser (the hot thing in the printer) and see if the "ironing" unit or fuser rollers are dirty or worn out or scratched

Verticle line down left side of page

Printers tend to have this problem if for some reason dirt gets trapped under the print heads. A standard head cleaning is the best solution, which can be found in the menu.

Dell printer

You can try cleaning the feed rollers and manually clean the ink cartridge carrier contacts. The issue may also be the encoder which is a narrow band of transparent plastic behind the ink cartridge carriers. Try to clean this. Be careful as this can break easily.
