Sears kenmore dryer model 4179842990

Big job.
The top comes open with a small screwdriver, or better yet a putty knife slipped to the right and left front corners and pried up. You have a plastic clip on either side of the front top which will snap open when pried.
Then, the front of the machine is usually held on with two screws that are inserted into the top front from the top sides, one screw in each side.
The bottom is easier, once the top screws are out, you lift the whole front panel off.
Down at the bottom of the front panel are two clips that go in two holes to hold the panel on.
You will also be unplugging the wire connector to the door switch.
We also had this happen, and if turning your clothes inside out or tying the strings doesn't work, we found to put such items inside a mesh "unmentionables/undergarments" bag stopped the problem.
Be blessed.

My maytag neptune dryer is making a scratching noise.

If the sound seems to come from the front of the drum it's probably the felt guides. The bottom one will wear first and make a grinding, rattle like sound. You can access it by removing the front panel which includes the door. It fits around the drum at the front. Here's a diagram. Some models have a two piece and some a one piece guide. Part 4 on this diagram is one. It's called a seal here. DIAGRAM

If the sound comes from the rear, there is a nylon bearing and metal socket at the rear center of the drum.

What is a glider? My dryer has started making some loud noises and the cloth like material that goes around it in the inside has ripped into shreds. Is this what is causing the loud noises? How and where...

The gliders are a piece of hard plastic that set on the frame, the peice that holds the drum, their is 4 of them and they are on top of the frame, the felt liner is what supports the bottom of the drum on the fram.

Maytag Neptune gas fired dryer motor does not turn makes buzzing sound

Dryers are turned by a belt, and belts break. You have to take the back off and look. The belt goes around the whole drum. It if broke, it will probably be on the bottom. Make sure the drum turns easily by hand. It could get jammed on something, or the bearing could go bad.

MAYTAG DRYER MDE3757AYW MAKING CLANGING NOISE CONSTANTLY WHILE DRYING ANYTHING FROM TOWELS TO SHEETS, ETC. SOUNDS LIKE PIECES OF METAL LOOSE. NOTHING ABNORMAL IS IN THE DRYER SUCH AS BUTTONS, ETC....

Sounds like the drum roller supports are warn out. Unplug the dryer. Remove the two screws on the lower front panel and tilt the bottom of the front panel out and remove the front panel. Mark and remove the wires going to the door switch. Set the front panel aside. Remove the four screws holding the drum shroud and lift up and out. Set to one side leaving the wires attached. Go to the rear of the dryer and remove the small access panel, Remember how the drum belt is attached to the tension spring loaded pulley and motor pulley. Remove the belt from this assembly and go to the front of the dryer and remove the drum. The drum rollers are located on the rear bulk head of the dryer. Check to make sure that they spin ok or if they are warn out. Replace both rollers. Check the glides on the front shroud. These are teflon glides that the main drum ride on. IF warn, replace glides. Reassemble the dryer in the opposite way in which it was disassembled.
I hope this is of some help.

Replacing felt around drum - model dpsr610eg0wt

On the DPSR610EGWT if you open the dryer door and look at the top of that opening There are two small phillips screws that hold down the top of the dryer. Unscrew those, lift the top and then slide it to the left to remove the top. Next, near the top of the seams between the front and side panels is a screw. Unscrew the small screw and the front will lift off. Be careful because the drum is supported by the front and there are also wires connected on the left. Hope this helps!

Maytag gas dryer. Belt broken. How do I open and replace it?

On the right front and left front of the panel there are 2 phillips head screws. They are about 4 inches up from the floor. Remove these 2 screws, lift the door panel out then down to dislodge the top clips. Remove the door switch wires and set the door aside. Remove 4 screws from the front drum support. @ on the right,2 on the left. Remove the drum support.Install the belt around the drum. The smooth side of the belt goes against the drum. Re-attach all the parts in front. Remove the belt access panel on the rear of the dryer on the bottom right side facing the dryer to arrange the belt around the motor pulley and tension roller.

How do you replace the drum belt on a Maytag DE610 dryer ?

OK, this one's a few years old. First, of course, disconnect power to the machine. Second, remove the two phillips head screws, one at L and one at R near the bottom corners of the front panel. Third, pull the bottom of the front panel toward you and unhook it from the dryer's top. Swing it to the side. You do not have to disconnect the wires to the door switch. Fourth, remove the four 5/16 hex head screws holding the drum supports and set it aside. Fifth, put belt around the drum. The smooth side of the belt touches the drum. Sixth, belt goes to the motor drive pulley and then around the belt tensioning idler pulley. Seventh, put the drum support part back on and turn the drum by hand to make sure the belt tracks OK and has no twists in it. Eighth, finish reassembly and test. Note: genuine Maytag belts usually have installation instructions on the back of the package, with a couple diagrams.

Changing the drum rollers on a Maytag MDE4000AYW Neptune Dryer..

The instructions above are perfect for most Maytag Dryers, but the Neptune MDE4000AYW is built differently from most. To open it, undo the two screws that run through the door hinges, and remove the door, then undo the two other screws that are on the opposite side of the doorway. With these four screws out, you can lift the front panel UP and out. Make sure you unplug the dryer first :-)
