My 2007 2500HD Duramax 4 wheel drive Hi or Lo doesn't engage. The "Service 4 wheel drive" light comes on. No noises when trying to engage. Replaced the actuator, but no difference. Also sometimes when backing up this truck makes a loud bank in the rear end. I am told this is in the transfer case where there is a chain that slips, Is that true and is there a fix?

The service 4x4 light coming on indicates problem with the system an DTC'S - diagnostic trouble codes are stored . Before replacing parts have a qualified repair shop do diagnostic's . ! Guessing an replacing parts on electronically controlled systems never fixes cars.

Check the solenoid at the front axel. This is a rather common prob. First check that power is at the axel, got power, clean and put it back. Please do not even look at the tranfer case! At worst you may need to replace the axel solenoid! Frankster016

I have found that when you are going to engauge 4x4 high, it is best to only be going about 3 miles an hour. Not faster, not stopped. It likes some movement to help it mesh. I've had perfect shifts since I started this. Hope it helps. Wade.

Hi my name is Juan and I do own a trailblazer with the same year 2002 and I read the problem you have let me try to help you Have you try to shift to 4hi with your transmission in neutral ? the transmission needs to be in neutral in order to shift the transfer case to 4hi and the vehicle needs to be completely stooped also is your service 4wd light on?? if the light is on your transfer case needs service and it can be as simple as the switch inside your car or a solenoid that has not been detected by the computer

I had the same problem and it ended up being the EGR Valve that was sticking.

Chevy blazer 2005 zr2 will not go into the 4X4 option either hi / lo or auto 4X4 press the button into each one and all it does is keep blinking and will not engage into 4 wheel drive

under your batt tray needs removed youll find a rubber hose goin to a vacume canastersee that it aint cracked or got a hole

I have a 1997 5.7 Liter Cheverolet Z71. The 4 wheel drive is not engaging. I can hear the trasfer case engage and can even hear the difference in the transmission when in 4 Lo/hi when driving. However...

Having 4 wheel drive is not actually the case unless you have limited slip on both axles. Do you know if one wheel will spin on both axles. If you can't get either wheel to spin on the front axle and one will spin on the rear then I would agree your not getting front wheel drive. Since you can tell a difference between hi/lo the transfer case is definitely engaging

Reset the computer by disconnecting the battery. This should solve this. nutetral is for the four lo only to engage.
