My lg 37 in about 5 years old has an issue when you turn it on , you have to shut it off and on about 10 to 12 times before a picture or sound will come on .. It also as doing this makes the loudest snap crackle and pop sound .. Really strange

Dude! You fried it! Sound board can be replaced, but what else was stressed? Replace it, use a good surge protector, and turn the thing off during storms, light a candle and cuddle with your sweetie.

suspect either a back light power board issue or main power board to back light board issue...also, is it under warranty ?

it sounds like a backlight issue. It could be as simple as a few bad caacitors. If you already replaced the set and you just want $$$ toss it on your local Craigslist as a parts/repair set. There's always TV shop owner and parts scavangers that will buy the set as is. Price wise, if the set is in good condition and come with remote, and pedestal, I would ask $60 as is but you may get more

Hello, if the model number is correct it's not a projection tv, but an LCD tv. If that's correct, it sounds like a bad main board issue part # is AGF31218501...thanks

my POlaroid 37" did same thing blue light stayed on no pic or sound was 2 electrolytic caps on power supply board took back off and they were noticably bulged at top radio shack sells these caps at $3 apiece fixed mine works like new saw a video on here how to do it

If this is a LCD projection then its time for a new lamp. Have your lamp placed.

Your mainboard is damaged, replace it and that will solve your issue.

Check fuse #1003 on SSB and Audio Ouput IC #7700.

try to check the fuse,if its broken replace with the same value.

call 877-543-8325 this is an LG Executive call center and they will fix this for free. I have a 50" plasma I bought january 2006 which is out of warranty by 5 months. They faxed me and the LG repair shop a 30 day warranty for my tv to cover the repair. Just tell them you heard a pop and in my case the picture is distorted. All they need is the model number and serial number and they should take care of it. No arguing needed.
