Logitech S200 speakers don't work after virus and reinstall OS

I had a computervirus yesterday when I started up my system. Apparently my antivirus program had contained the problem but some windows files were already corrupted and I had to reinstall Windows XP. Today most of the problems that come with it are solved, except that my speakers don't work, they don't even appear on the hardware list in the configuration screen. I just don't know what to do anymore. As far as I can remember there was no install-CD with the speakers and I don't find any driver software on the internet...

Problem is already solved, seemed I had just had to reinstall my motherboard drivers to make it work again.

Follow the given instructions to remove Trojan Virus from your PC.
1. Launch an antivirus program that you should have installed on your computer, such as Symantec's Norton or McAfee. Wait for the program's window to appear, then go to "Disk View." Highlight your computer, then select "Scan/Repair" so that the antivirus can detect the Trojan and trash it.
2. Exit the antivirus program on your Mac. Restart your computer again to ensure that the Trojan has been deleted. Empty the trash can on your computer once it is back up and running.
3. Disable the System Restore feature if you're a Windows user. Go to "Start" at the bottom of your screen, then right-click the "My Computer" icon to go to "Properties." Redirct and error at 0x00000 when closeing IE or FireFox


Well it is quite obvious however. I ll include manual removal instructions. Please follow the steps carefully.
There will be 2 executable files which are Sysinternals Antivirus.exe and svchost.exe. Svchost is invoked by the other executable. There may be another one named alggui.exe
You have to kill these two processes. First of all you have to do this:
  1. Start the Task manager by right clicking on the Taskbar.
  2. Go to Processes.
  3. Observe the processes.
  4. Right Click on processes and select End process for Sysinternals Antivirus.exe and alggui.exe. You will not be able to kill the svchost.exe however since there will be more than one and each represents a Valid system process. To find the exact process run by the file which resides in the "Program Files", I recommend you to use the Security Task manager for Windows.Here is the Link
  5. Use the tool and kill the exact process.
Locating malicious files. The list of files I have already mentioned. But there are more.

You have to search and delete each and every file.
We have to set some additional things in order to see the Hidden and System files which are protected.
  1. Open My Computer.
  2. Go to Tools and then Folder Options.
  3. Click on View tab.
  4. Under the Option "Hidden Files and Folders", set it to "Show ..."
  5. Untick the "Hide Protected Operating System Files (Recommended)" as well.
  6. Now go to C partition and check whether you can see .sys and other hidden files including the System Volume Information folder. If so the procedure was successful. Otherwise you have to edit the registry or have to use the DOS command window to locate and delete these files.
  7. Use Windows search tool to search the files. Before searching set the More Advanced Options. Check for "All files and Folders". Drop down "More advanced options" and tick the Search System Folders, Search Hidden files and folders, Search Sub-folders options. Then do the search. If you find any file or folder you have to delete it. Before deleting, there is one more thing to do.
  • You have to stop the Startup Processes.
  • Click on the Start menu and hit on Run. Or type in Run if you have Vista.
  • Type in the Run box this. msconfig
  • Hit Enter.
  • Go to "Startup" tab. Examine the processes and remove the unwanted ones. You can browse for the valid ones.Specially note the Autorun.inf files. You must remove them if exist.Remember the path to each malicious file. Then uncheck the boxes. Hit Apply button. Then OK button.
  • Do not Restart the System when you have been asked.
Stopping the System Restore services
  1. Go to Properties of My Computer.
  2. Go to System Restore.
  3. Turn off.
Now you are ready to delete the files. Click on each file and Click SHIFT+DEL. Do not Right Click and Delete.
Alternative way if Hidden files and folders are now shown
  • Get the Run box again and type in cmd and press Enter.
  • Type cd and hit Enter.
  • Now you will be in the System drive (C: most probably)
  • You have to use: cd foldername to move within folders.
  • Example: Type cd program files and hit Enter to go in to Program Files.CD denotes Change Directory.
  • To change the Partition you have to type Partition: and hit enter.
  • Example: D:
  • Locate each file and delete Except the adc_w32.dll because we have to Unregister it.
  • Go to each location which I have included here as well as shown in the msconfig tool.
  • Then use DIR /a /q to get the list of files.
  • Type DIR /a /q and hit enter.
  • Note: Note the spaces.
  • Now if you see the files type this and hit enter.
  • attrib -s -h -a -r
  • Then type Del with the file name.
  • Example: Del alggui.exe
  • What the attribute command does is changing the File attributes to normal ( - is used to remove the attributes. S is for System, H is for Hidden, A is for Archive, R is for Read Only).
  • Make sure you go to Root of each partition and check for Autorun.inf files (There may be batch files as well - .bat files, exe files etc. Check whether they are valid executables using the browser)
  • Now that part is done!
Unregistering the DLL file before Deleting:
  • Get the Command Windows again using cmd.
  • Type in Regsvr32 /? and hit enter. If you get a Dialog Box that means its functioning.
  • If you do not have it obtain from here. Place the file in Windows/System32.
  • Type in Regsrv32 /u C:Pathadc_w32.dll and hit enter.
  • Path is the path to the file. It may be in the Program Files or Windows or WindowsSystem32. Use Search or Command Windows to find it. (Might be in the Startup in msconfig as well).
  • You can run this command without the Command Windows as well. Just enter it in the Run box and hit Enter. If you do properly it will show you a dialog box containing the Success message.

To run the Microsoft Windows Installer if Norton AntiVirus was installed from the CD
  1. Insert the Norton AntiVirus CD into the CD-ROM drive.
  2. Do one of the following:
    • If the installation program appears, then click Browse the CD
    • If the installation program does not appear, then double-click the My Computer icon on the Windows desktop, and then double-click the CD-ROM drive icon.
  3. Double-click the MSI folder.
  4. Do one of the following:
    • In Windows 98/Me, double-click the WIN9x folder.
    • In Windows 2000/XP, double-click the WINNT folder.
  5. Do one of the following:
    • In Windows 98/Me, double-click the Instmsi.exe file.
    • In Windows 2000/XP, double-click Instmsiw.exe if you have Windows 2000/XP.
  6. In the next dialog box, click Yes.
  7. After the rollback has finished, then reinstall Norton AntiVirus.

  2. Ensure that "Look in" is set to the drive where you downloaded Norton AntiVirus, and that "Include subfolders" is checked.
  3. In the "Named" or "Search for..." box, do one of the following:
    • In Windows 98/Me, type the following:

      instmsi.exe
    • In Windows 2000/XP, type the following:

      instmsiw.exe
  4. Click Find Now or Search Now.
    You might see many files with this name. Look for the file with this name that is located in either the Symantec_Norton_AntiVirus_2003 or the your Windows temporary file location depending on your version of Norton AntiVirus.
  5. In the Search Results window, do one of the following, depending on your version of Windows:
    • In Windows 98/Me, double-click Instmsi.exe.
    • In Windows 2000/XP, double-click Instmsiw.exe.
  6. In the next dialog box, click Yes.
    This will undo the changes that were made to your system during the first failed installation.
  7. After the process finishes, then reinstall Norton AntiVirus.

How do i get rid of a W32.SillyFDC virus


The following instructions pertain to all current and recent Symantec antivirus products, including the Symantec AntiVirus and Norton AntiVirus product lines.
  1. Disable System Restore (Windows Me/XP).
  2. Update the virus definitions.
  3. Run a full system scan.
  4. Delete any values added to the registry.

For specific details on each of these steps, read the following instructions.

1. To disable System Restore (Windows Me/XP)
If you are running Windows Me or Windows XP, we recommend that you temporarily turn off System Restore. Windows Me/XP uses this feature, which is enabled by default, to restore the files on your computer in case they become damaged. If a virus, worm, or Trojan infects a computer, System Restore may back up the virus, worm, or Trojan on the computer.

Windows prevents outside programs, including antivirus programs, from modifying System Restore. Therefore, antivirus programs or tools cannot remove threats in the System Restore folder. As a result, System Restore has the potential of restoring an infected file on your computer, even after you have cleaned the infected files from all the other locations.

Also, a virus scan may detect a threat in the System Restore folder even though you have removed the threat.

For instructions on how to turn off System Restore, read your Windows documentation, or one of the following articles:

Note: When you are completely finished with the removal procedure and are satisfied that the threat has been removed, reenable System Restore by following the instructions in the aforementioned documents.

For additional information, and an alternative to disabling Windows Me System Restore, see the Microsoft Knowledge Base article: Antivirus Tools Cannot Clean Infected Files in the _Restore Folder (Article ID: Q263455).

2. To update the virus definitions
Symantec Security Response fully tests all the virus definitions for quality assurance before they are posted to our servers. There are two ways to obtain the most recent virus definitions:
  • Running LiveUpdate, which is the easiest way to obtain virus definitions.

    If you use Norton AntiVirus 2006, Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 10.0, or newer products, LiveUpdate definitions are updated daily. These products include newer technology.

    If you use Norton AntiVirus 2005, Symantec AntiVirus Corporate Edition 9.0, or earlier products, LiveUpdate definitions are updated weekly. The exception is major outbreaks, when definitions are updated more often.


  • Downloading the definitions using the Intelligent Updater: The Intelligent Updater virus definitions are posted daily. You should download the definitions from the Symantec Security Response Web site and manually install them.

The latest Intelligent Updater virus definitions can be obtained here: Intelligent Updater virus definitions. For detailed instructions read the document: How to update virus definition files using the Intelligent Updater.

3. To run a full system scan
  1. Start your Symantec antivirus program and make sure that it is configured to scan all the files.

    For Norton AntiVirus consumer products: Read the document: How to configure Norton AntiVirus to scan all files.

    For Symantec AntiVirus Enterprise products: Read the document: How to verify that a Symantec Corporate antivirus product is set to scan all files.


  2. Run a full system scan.
  3. If any files are detected, follow the instructions displayed by your antivirus program.
  4. Delete the autorun.inf file from writeable removable devices, if necessary.
Important: If you are unable to start your Symantec antivirus product or the product reports that it cannot delete a detected file, you may need to stop the risk from running in order to remove it. To do this, run the scan in Safe mode. For instructions, read the document, How to start the computer in Safe Mode. Once you have restarted in Safe mode, run the scan again.


After the files are deleted, restart the computer in Normal mode and proceed with the next section.

Warning messages may be displayed when the computer is restarted, since the threat may not be fully removed at this point. You can ignore these messages and click OK. These messages will not appear when the computer is restarted after the removal instructions have been fully completed. The messages displayed may be similar to the following:

Title: [FILE PATH]
Message body: Windows cannot find [FILE NAME]. Make sure you typed the name correctly, and then try again. To search for a file, click the Start button, and then click Search.

4. To delete the value from the registry
Important: Symantec strongly recommends that you back up the registry before making any changes to it. Incorrect changes to the registry can result in permanent data loss or corrupted files. Modify the specified subkeys only. For instructions refer to the document: How to make a backup of the Windows registry.
  1. Click Start > Run.
  2. Type regedit
  3. Click OK.

    Note: If the registry editor fails to open the threat may have modified the registry to prevent access to the registry editor. Security Response has developed a tool to resolve this problem. Download and run this tool, and then continue with the removal.

  4. Navigate to the following registry subkeys:

    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders

I'm trying to uninstal AVG, but it says there is 1 problem and will not uninstal the program. can you help me uninstal this program?

You Havn't specified, What is the problem exactly. I mean you have not specified the error Description.

But still The problem could arose while uninstalling Antivirus Program would be:

1. Any *.dll file missing from antivirus directory.
2. system file of antivirus missing from System32 directory of windows.
3. Any file that belongs to antivirus are not able to load while installinfg like uninst.exe.
4.Windows installer 3.0 is not installed on ur system
(Check out all the above including reviewing ur antivirus directory for uninst.exe file)

To solve this error you must do the following:
1. Run AVG antivirus setup program to repair. some times it doesnot give you the option if half of installed program have been removed from system.
2. Go to run type "regedit" and press enter
3. go to hkey_local_machine ->SOFTWARE -> and select AVG
expand trees of AVG.
4. Check for data path and its contents in AVG directory of program files, and also For UninstPath to varify that the uninst.exe in avg directory of program files is not missplaced
5. After doing the specified solution 60% are the chances that ur program would be uninstalled. else if it doesnot uninstall the program and gives the same error then Choose system restore tool.

For restoring do the following:
1. Go to Start -> All Programs -> Accessories ->System Tools
and select System Restore
2. Go to next window, Choose the restore point that was before installing of ur AVG Antivirus.
3. Select that restore point by reading the description.
4. Click next to restore.

Note: Your system will restart after choosing the restore point and clicking next. It takes some time to restore.

Most probably this tool will help you to remove this antivirus.

Remove it's entry from registry by Going to run type "regedit" and press enter
go to hkey_local_machine ->SOFTWARE -> andright click AVG
and select delete option to delete.
