I have the same problem and solved it however the parts are NLA no longer available it is your flyback most likely. Mine would turn on and flub for a sec then turn off if you get nothing on the screen then that is probably the problem. It sucks and i wish some one could tell us if it is a sub for this part number KFT7AQ228F.

The smell from my set came from the resistors going to the lamps near the convergence ICs it fried several of them.

    Hey B

    It is the flyback.
the smell is the resistors located near the Convergence IC I bet you that's the deal.
I have one too with the same problem It flubs for a sec you can hear the tuner make a subtle sound then the unit powers off the transformer is KFT7AQ228F and it is NLA no longer available partsstore.com claims they have one but they don't trust me I ordered one just to receive a refund.

My Panasonic PT-60LCX64 television keeps having a problem with temperature. Every few hours, the TV will turn off and the temp light will blink 4 times. It will turn back on if we give it a rest of 10

Sounds like a fan issue which is possiblt slowing down as it gets warm. I would try removing the rear cover and set a fan behind it blowing on the chassis and see if the set keeps running if so the fans would be suspect.

Panasonic PT-51HX40B turns itself off and has no video, no lights

The buzzing noise that you were earing came from a bad ballast, and because of the bad ballast your lamp must have got out also, and that is were you are getting the burned smel from and also that is why you are no longer geteting any picture either.

So in this case you would have to replace the ballast board and the lamp on your tv set.

Reset Time Problem on Panasonic TV (PT-50LC13)

Power on the set, listen for afaint buzzing sound as the set tries to fire up. If you do not here it then your lamp driver, or ballast is most likely faulty. Also make sure you have the door and all covers back in place and secure. And make sure you insatlled an orginal panasonic lamp because some generic will not work.

Need a wiring diagram

This site has a lot of service manuals with wiring diagrams for a reasonable price. Downloadable PDF in most cases. I have purchased 2 for RP TVs.

LAMP HOURS

Sure.

Make sure the set is off but plugged in. Hold the "volume down" button on the set while pressing the "tv/video" button on the remote (at the same time) over 5 seconds.

This is a "customer" service mode where you can't screw up the set but can get some basic info on your unit. You cannot change any internal info in this mode.

Hit the "power" button when you're done and leave set off for 10 seconds before turning back on to reset your tv.

Good luck, Mark

Turns off after a few seconds

The unit is going in to shutdown. There is a short in the unit. My guess would be the HOT and or Flyback are bad.
