Question about Whirlpool MH7155XM Microwave Oven

1 Answer

Venting I have the Whirlpool Microwave model mh1160xsb4 and it just doesn't seem to vent properly. We intstalled it for the recirculate method as it is not vented into the wall or ceiling. It doesn't seem to have much suction at the vent areas under the unit. Any problems with using the recirculation method on these models?

Brand new Tappan over-the-range microwave. Installed per specs. Air comes out of front vent but will not **** anything under microwave. No adjustments to blower motor called for unless would be vented to outside. Installed exactly as called for for recirculating operation. This is ridiculous! What must we do? I cannot imagine how weak it would be with the (not included) charcoal filter required for recirculating operation. There were spacers mentioned for the top mounting bolts but our mw fits neatly in the recess of the cabinet. Must there be spacers on the 2 mounting bolts which screw into the top? I would think not! Please help me and lmo0511!

I would suggest that you check the manual to be sure it;s set up right.

Then you need to check any filters that are in place.

You should also check behind the grille for any obstructions or dust, etc.

1. Unplug it from the outlet.
2. Remove any screws and unlatch any tabs in the vent grille.
3. Pull up and/or out to remove the grille.

Whirlpool customer service is here and you can also enter your model number on that page to download your owner's manual, installation instructions, etc..

Does the maytag mmv1164ww1 micro/hood combo require outdoor venting?

No .. it can also be recirculated . you will need charcoal filters if you do so. There is a specific charcoal filter for each microwave hood. Any appliance part dealer would carry it ( you will need to give them the micro hood model number ) or you can order them online through Whirlpool parts website ( whirlpool owns maytag)

Why double filter on Maytag Microwave

If your range hood or microwave recirculates back in to the room.

Both filters are required. The mesh filter catches the grease & air particulate. The carbon filter should be changed regularly www.HoodFilterFactory.com ( avoid range fires that spread quickly) & clears the recirculated air from smoke, odors, & airborne particulate.

With yours venting to the outside, you ONLY need the mesh filter. These filters should be cleaned regularly ( Avoid mentioned hazard) & should be replaced when you can no longer clean them enough to see through them when holding up to the light.

Good Luck

Can i vent my jvm-1440 microwave/fan ?

yes, you can recirculate it out the front which i suppose u do currrently... you may also vent it out the top, or the rear. to do this u must drop the unit down, and rotate the fan motor to point the appropriate direction, and also install or have a exterior venting piping existing currently..

Determine venting requirements

When you initially unpackage the microwave oven it is already set up for RECIRCULATION mode (which is VENTLESS). However, since the unit recirculates air rather than exhausting it out through the wall or roof, it usually uses a couple of small charcoal filters behind the upper grille and mesh filters on the underside that have to be changed or cleaned periodically. These filters will accumulate grease and dirt over time and should be periodically checked in order to maintain proper ventilation and air flow. Information pertaining to the location and care of the filters is explained on Page 4 of your Owner's Manual.

NOTE: If you wish to convert to a VENTED system, the instructions are listed on Page 4 of the Installation Guide.

If you do not have either manual you can obtain copies at managemylife.com. Just type in your model number as "GMH3174XVB" and you will find the manuals listed in a .pdf (Adobe) format that can be printed or downloaded for FREE.

If you have any questions, please post back and let me know. I hope this helps you.

Have whirlpool gold accuwave micro hood combo model# GH51884XPS5

The inspector is correct, air should be coming through the top louvers, although you sometimes will have a little air coming from the sides and back. Drop the microwave and see which way the blower is rotated, towards the louvers or towards the back or top. Some units also have a panel that blocks the venting from going the wrong way. Good Luck, Appliance Specialists

Can the lg lmv2083st microwave be vented to an outside vent? not clear from the installation manual.

On page 8 of the installation manual I found, it shows that the oven can be vented to the outside. You can view it at this link:

http://www.managemyhome.com/mmh/lis_pdf/INSTL/L0707162.pdf

If the link does not work, you can go to managemyhome.com and type in your model number under the "Manuals" link.

In the manual it describes three methods of venting: Room, Roof, and Wall. It also gives guidance on how to properly install the duct work.

If you have questions, please let me know. I hope this helps you.

Installing a Whirlpool over the range microwave oven, just trying to figure out if I have to vent it outside or not. Instructions say venting outside is not necessary if you have a recirculation system....

I would say that you do not have to vent it outside. One of the most common complaints I get is that the microwave is not sucking up a lot of air. I have called Whirlpool and they have said that most of these newer microwaves don't really have a lot of air movement in them and they have smaller blower motors. Some of this was due to the fact that people didn't like the noise of a big fan that was necessary fo move air. I have noticed this on my own also. When boiling sweetcorn this summer, it would barely **** up the steam whether it was recirc or to the outside, I usually test them by putting a cleenex under the vent abd see if it holds it there. Bottom line is they really don't move a lot of air and it's not worth the cost and time of venting it out. Hope that helps

Frigidaire plmv169dcd not venting properly. Filters are clean.

If it's equipped with a charcoal filter, that needs to be changed (not cleaned) about every 6-12 months, depending on use.

I would also very the installation and venting set up found in the installation instructions.

You can download Electrolux/Frigidaire owner's manuals and installation instructions here.

If all that is proper, then I would suspect an obstruction such as an animal nest in the vent outlet or in the duct work.
