How to fit a thermostat

Fridge freezer cda543fw

  • Anonymous Nov 19, 2011

Hello, Could you please provide the make and full model number of your freezer? Also if you can state which thermostat as well there are a couple in a freezer such as the defrost thermostat which would be located on the evaporator coil. There is also a thermostat control which is located under the knob or dial that you use to turn the unit to get warmer or colder. I will await your reply before posting a solution.
    Thank you,
    Rick

Hello, on most refrigerators when you are trying to access the evaporator coil to diagnose a defrost issue you would remove the rear panel on the inside of the freezer by unscrewing the screws that hold the panel to the back wall. There are some also where the coil is located in the floor of the freezer as well and likewise you would unscrew those screws which hold the floor in and slide the panel outward. By removeing this panel this gives you access to the evaporator coil. There are two key parts which should be tested in this area with a multimeter. The first is the defrost thermostat which you would unplug the machine and disconnect the thermostat and perform an ohms test on it. Usually a defrost thermostat would read about .50 ohms or higher if it were functioning properly. The next part would be located usually under the evaporator coil and is called the defrost heater. This part also you would perform a continuity test on and most usually give an ohms reading of 20 ohms or higher to test as functioning properly. If you find that both these are working good message me back for further instructions as to the adaptive control board or the defrost timer depending on which you do have. Note all ice you find on the evaporator coil has to be defrosted with a hair dryer as well as any ice build up on the evaporator fan or drain area located under the coil. If you have any further questions message me back. I await your reply.
Thank you,
Rick

The fridge compartment on my Bush model BFFF55152W fridge freezer freezes up presumed thermostat had failed fitted new one same problem. Can you help

If it has an evaporator fan, make sure that is working, or the defrost element has failed. Check the air vents from the freezer into the food compartment are clear. There may be ice blocking them.

Temperature sensors

I have an E402 fridge (403 litre model with freezer on bottom) . I just dismantled the freezer back wall due to a bad defroster element and noticed that on the back wall of the freezer is a small raised "cavity" or "slot" that the black thermostat fits into nicely. In my fridge, it is above the Collins coil and a bit to the right of centre(closer to the wire entry hole). Hope this helps

Beko CDA543FW freezer will not cool past -12 degrees C

Turn it off for 24 hours to defrost entirely. Restart and monitor. Always leave something in the freezer/fridge so it has something to work against. I would recommend soft drink/soda cans

Our fridge/freezer FN240-FG940 was purchased in 20002001. Is it subject to the currently identified overheating problems please?

This article refers to BEKO Fridge Freezers:
According to the London METRO magazine ( http://www.metro.co.uk/news/868330-beko-fridge-freezers-fire-risk-warning-issued-to-homeowners-amid-recall ) The MODEL numbers (not serial numbers) affected by the recall are as follows:
CDA543FX
CA5411FFS
CDA752FS
CDA645FW
CA5411FFW
CDA752FW
CDA647FS

From what I can ascertain, the fridges affected were manufactured between January 2000 and October 2006
If you go to the BEKO website, there is a link to check your serial number:
https://refsafety.beko.co.uk/
But I have to say, matching serial number or not, if I had an affected model, I would be checking with BEKO anyway!!

Hotpoint fridge freezer icing up freezer and fridge does not work

Does your model have independent thermostats for the fridge & freezer???

If not, could be that you will need to change the Thermostat.
These are not expensive - around £10 if you buy on the Internet.
Easy to fit yourself...just turn off the power, remove the power plug from the wall, then unscrew the 'stat unit from inside near the top of the fridge (some are attached to the interior light) and remove the screw holding the thermostat tube to the rear wall.
Often the thermostat gets a small hole somewhere in the long tube, which then lets all the gas escape, making the stat useless.
You can see these small holes in the pipe if you use a magnifying eyeglass, like the kind Jewellers use.
