Accidentally turned backlight off.

Totally dark? If you have the phone under a light don't you see anything on it?

you may have to take it to someone to get it reset but I'l have to check if we can do that over the internet.

Iphone screen backlight not working

If Your Iphone backlight has stopped working then you LCD screen needs to be replaced. You can do it yourself. Just google it but I receommend having it done professionally. It costs 99 dollars which is better than the 300-400 dollars for a new iphone.

Phone display is very dim-can barely read

Well, first you will have to check your options, if you can read it enough to get in there.  You may have the backlight turned off.  If the backlight is not turned off, then you probably have a bad backlight and will have to take it to your provider to get it fixed.  Replacing a screen/backlight is not something I would attempt to do unless you are certain you know exactly what you are doing as you can render the phone completely useless.

I was chaging setting and I turned of backlight

If its just the backlight then you can stay in a well lit area and look at the screen that way to change the setting, also you could try plugging it in to keep the backlight on.
