Mutant car amp NW480SP wen wired up n turned on the protection on the amp seems 2 stay on, i wud like 2 know why this is and how to stop it

My amp just stopped working one day almost new dont known why


DID YOU CHECK YOUR FUSES? Is there anything lighting up on it to see if it is in fact turning on? If it's lighting up and there is no protection lights lit up then check your speakers to make sure you didn't burn them up. If there is a protect LED lit then unhook your speakers and see if it stays lit or not. If it stays lit then check to make sure you're getting enough voltage at the amp connection, minimum of 11.0 volts is required just to get it to turn on. If it has under voltage and over voltage protection LEDs see if they're lit. If you do all of these things and are getting enogh voltage, your speakers are not burnt, your protection LEDs are lit no matter what then you need warranty repair that amp. If your speaker wires are shorted it will make your amp shut down also, but since you were using it for a day or so my bet is that you burnt up one of your speaker voice coils and it's internally shorted and that will cause your amp to shut down in protect mode. Otherwise you probably internally fried your amp by too low of voltage or not enough current (amperage) due to not large enough conductor (too small gauge wire) should be minimum of 8 Ga. for each amp, 2 amps will require 4 Ga, 3 or more will need 2 Ga, or 0 Ga. wiring to keep the voltage and current flow high enough to keep from damaging the amps. Speaker kept working on an off wen i turned a corner then one day completlety stopped working none of my other speakers work but my sub still does been told its gone into protection mode just wanting to...


It is possible that the amplifier had encountered a fault with a higher current drain which had triggered it to a protection fault condition. Now disconnect the speakers and test, if the protect is off then check for short on the speakers.

It is possible that the speakers or speaker wires are shorted to the ground - as it was disconnecting when the car moves. So remove the speaker connection and see if the amp resets.

Protection lite and over current lite stay on


Sounds like a problem with the coils. Coils are known to short-out during periods of high-use. This happens when the insulation between wires break down and allow for a path of lower resistance for the current to travel. If this is the problem, you'll have to replace the coils in the amp which is a weekend job, but completely do-able. Hope this helps

The head unit is saying amp gaurd and will not play anything


it sounds like ur unit is protecting it self from the amp, i wud recheck the amp & amps wiring all the way too the unit & if i found nothing ten i wud check the wiring to the unit, or maybe ur rem or rca wires cd b the prob. check them as well..hope i was of help

Brand new sub deied 5 minutes after fitting


maybe u had ur crossover set to full on the amp. Check it bcause, if you have to many high frequencies sent to any subs at a high level u can seize them in minits.

Amp heats up and goes into protect mode


Hi Saint108. You're describing it well, and i know what the problem is already. The MA audio amp, can't hold with a 2 ohm load. It's too low for that amp, that's for sure. Those are budget amps and they are not well built enough to handle low ohm setups like that. It's overheating and there's no ways around it.. Other than wiring your subs differently ! Just wire your sub directly (not in parallel) in a 4 ohm load, you will notice it will stop overheating that much. Do it quick, you'll most likely fry your amp giving it such hard work !! The HUM you're hearing could be related to it also. Try that, and keep me posted on the status. Thanks ! Cheebster.
