I had turned the hot water off but will not even fill on the cold water temperaturn must turn it to another settting...what would make the water fill in spurts?

  • Wendelyn May 18, 2009

When it is time for the cold rinse, cold water comes out with spurts of warm water. We are not on a well. It has been working fine until now. I switched to "Whites" and it seemed to rinse cold, but it is rinsing warm again on "whites" also.
    Thanks.

Water flows constantly during the spin cycle

Servicing Water Inlet ValvesIf the washer won't fill or fills very slowly, if it overfills, or if the water is the wrong temperature, the water inlet valves could be faulty. These components are easy to locate and very easy to replace, at little cost. When you suspect an inlet valve is faulty, first check to make sure the water faucets are fully turned on and properly connected to the hot and cold inlets of the valves. Then check the screens in the valves; if they're clogged, clean or replace them. If water doesn't enter the tub, set the temperature control to the HOT setting. If there is no water, set the control to the WARM setting. If all that comes out is cold water, the hot-water inlet valve is faulty. Reverse the procedure to test the cold-water valve, setting the control first on COLD and then on WARM. If the tub overfills, unplug the washer. If water still flows into the tub, the valve is stuck open. In any of these cases, the valves should probably be replaced.

I have a top loading Kenmore Washing Machine. I don´t have the excat model but looks like a KENMORE HEAVY DUTY SERIES 70 AUTOMATIC WASHER, MODEL # 110.92273100. The problem presents after finishing...

You may have 2 defective parts.
First, make sure the hot and cold water hoses are connected correctly and both turned on.
If the water fill problem is the same, the water temp switch is bad.
The not filling after the wash cycle could be a bad lid switch.
Set the machine for SPIN and turn it on.
If it does not spin, replace the lid switch.

Brand new roper washing machine model # RTW4440VQ2 the cold water is very slow filling hot is fine

This model of washer has something called an Automatic Temperature Control. This means the washer puts water into the tub at specific tempreatures instead of just 100% cold, or 100% hot. Be sure and check that the hot and cold fill hoses are connected to the proper places on the back of the washer. It's possible that the ATC (mentioned above) is causing the washer to fill slowly on the cold setting.

Why is there only hot water going in the washing machine?

the cold water valve is stuck shut inside washer.

how-to-repair-a-washing-machine-2.jpg

Step 1: Remove the back service panel and disconnect the hot-water and cold-water hoses to the valves.

Step 2: Remove the hoses connected to the valves inside the cabinet. Also disconnect the wires from the terminals. Back out the screws holding the valves to the machine. The inlet valves have solenoids (a coil of wire that carries a current) inside the housing. These can be tested, but chances are the valves are simply worn out.

Step 3: Tap the solenoids with a screwdriver handle. If this doesn't work, replace the entire inlet valve assembly. Repairs usually cost more than a new part. Make sure the replacement valve assembly is exactly the same type as the old one. Install it in reverse order of the way you disconnected the old one.

The water will not fill washer. It spurts a little then stops. Water is on. No kink in hose.

HI, this is a defective water valve assembly. you must replace this assembly asap, if possible. this will fix you issue.

The inlet valve connects the hot and cold water from your home to the back of the washer. The valve solenoids on the valve open one or both valves to provide the proper water temperature for the wash cycle. If the valves are blocked or the solenoids do not activate, the symptoms may include no water, low water pressure, the wrong water temperature or water entering the tub even when the machine is off.

When filling my F&Paykel washer the water is not a constant flow, it is filling in 'spurts', ie stop/start/stop/start etc...... I have tried cold, hot & warm water, all combinations of temp are...

You most likely have a smart water temp sensor on your machine. It makes sure you have the proper water temp to dissolve your detergent. Even when set to cold, it will add some hot water. It sounds like your machine is working properly. If you feel you are haveing a problem check the water temperatures in your owners manual and then check them with a thermomater in the washer. If they are not correct you may have a bad temperature sensor. Good Luck and I hope this helped. Mca0824@aol.com
