Restart the computer and Tap F8 to boot to safe mode. Once you see the options, then use the arrow keys to highlight safe mode and hit enter. Once you are inside safe mode, then do the system restore from there.

Click on start > programs > accessories > system tools > system restore

Select a restoration point and launch it.

If you can't go to safe mode, please drop me a line and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.

I downloaded a game and it froze so I had to reset and now when I turn on my laptop it won't go past the windows xp loading screen

Start up your computer and as it starts up press the F8 key. That will give you some options with one being a start from last known good configuration. Use that and you should be able to get back to windows where you can do a system restore from the control panel selections. System restore will let you back up to a good configuration before you installed the bad software. Hope this helps.

Hi! Computer screen froze when shutting down, I turned it off, turned it back on and now it is stuck on "start up repair" screen, for hours! Help!

Restart it and try start windows normally.
If that doesn't work, try safe mode and restart the computer.

How do i reboot my laptop myself

There are a few ways to reboot a laptop. You can shut it down using the menu and tell it to restart and it will reboot. Or you can shut it down and retart it using the power button. Either way reboots it the same way or to the same effect

Laptop has black screen on startup. what do i do to repair this.

I have a similar problem:

I have a Compaq Presario SR2010NX desktop computer. Recently, very occasionally, the computer would freeze and the screen would scramble. It almost looks like someone chopped up the picture on the screen. Then we would have to manually shut down the computer and restart. It would always work fine afterwards.

Yesterday the computer did it again. It restarted fine but when my boyfriend tried to install a new mouse the computer froze again and the screen went scrambled. Well this time it did not start back up. I tried to unplug the computer from the wall and restart but that got me to the COMPAQ screen and then the computer froze again and the word compaq was doubled all the way down the screen. We continued to try to start it in PC recovery but it would get the the program and freeze. I actually got it to run once but I couldn't see what it was doing because the screen was scrambled.

Now we have restarted it so many times that it will start up, light turns green, and stays green. The computer sounds like its starting up and it seems louder than normal. The computer doesn't do anything and the screen is black. The lights on the keyboard do not turn on but the light in the mouse does. The CD drive will light up and run as well but nothing happens after that. I can't see the cursor and the keyboard does not work.

I opened the computer up, cleaned the dust off, tried to re-install my old RAM and that did not work either. I disconnected the CD drive but that did not work. Tried to start the computer with nothing plugged in except mouse, keyboard and monitor and that did not work.
I don't know what to do! Help!

Hi, I purchased a acer on 8/20/10. Updated with a new video card on 9/9/10. Worked great until 10/3/10. I was playing a game and the computer froze. I had to do a hard shut down. Computer came back up,...

Hello sir, if your hard drive and video card is new for now, then maybe your memory card is not enough for your PC. And please try to check the processor because I encountered some problems like that.

I have windows xp a lot of times when I restart my computer a white screen comes up it wont re-boot at times it boots up with a white screen

sounds like its a software problem , however its wise to rule out if its a hardware problem, best thing to do is try to start it up in safemode , this is easily done by retarting comp and pressing F8. now if safe mode shows your desktop it is most likely software, save any file you dont want to loose and try remastering if your comp came with installation disc restart with disc inside . if not it probably has a partition you need to look in manual for the remastering solution to this , could be retart f11 or retart f8 , every comp is different , best advice is to google your model for remastering my computer. good luck

No signal input

this sounds like fried graphics card... the clue being the error message before it died,

Does the PC boot so that you can see the Bios Screen, (the very first info that displays) the BIOS screen does not use the windows drivers and would be unaffected if a driver failure occurs,

if this is the case then press f8 on boot to select SAFE mode so you can remove/replace the graphics drivers (in device manager)

if you cannot get bios or safe mode, then try reseating your graphics card first as it may have just worked it way out of its slot (due to expansion of card/slot as system heats/cools)

if this fails to work then a replacement of the graphics card is probably what is required.

You are going to have to replace your LCD screen. If you are technically astute, then there are instructions that I can send you... if not , then taking it to a shop would be your best bet.

your computer or Laptop may not be configured properly before connecting. check whether both have same workgroup and IP address are different and then try reconnecting.
