Hello,

On most routers when data is being accessed you will see the lights blink rapidly, especially if you are passing video over it. Data connections will blink intermittently but normally not as fast as video.

Hope this helps. Please remember to rate this information.

Thanks

Is it blinking or steady? if it's steady the computer is receiving electrical power, but an internal power problem might exist. Try these:
Make sure the microprocessor power cable is securely connected to the system board, remove and reinstall the memory modules, remove and reinstall any cards....
If blinking try this; make sure the main power cable is securely connected to the system board. Eliminate interference: power extension cables, keyboard and mouse extension cables, too many devices on a power strip, multiple power strips connected to same electrical outlet.

A device on the system board may be faulty or incorrectly installed.

Have you upgraded any of the hardware? (e.g. memory, video card, sound card, network card)

The best thing to do is to strip down the computer bare, have only one stick of RAM and the on-board video and slowly add compents until you are able to duplicate the problem.

Setting up a netgear router with comcast I had it working when I was on dsl now with cable it won't work

Unplug power to both the router and modem,Plug the power to the modem in and wait 20 seconds or until the lights steady, then plug the router in.
This happens when 2 items try to get an ip from the cable company at the same time.

Try to reset the reset button of the router to return to his default configuration and try to connect. Look for the pin or ballpen then press the reset at least 15 second.
