Wii completely stops working after power outage

I have now went through two Wiis after both have suffered a complete power failure after a power outage at my house. Neither case was a power surge that I am aware of. I have my Wii plugged into a good power surge protector and nothing else plugged in has been affected. Is there any advice or solutions that can be offered?

I just had the same problem as everyone else. I had a brief power loss and our new Wii system's power would no longer work. To fix the problem, I unplugged everything from our Wii and unplugged the power cord from the outlet. I let the system set for 10 minutes and re-plugged the power only. That did the trick. Then I was able to plug everything back up and we are now back to playing.

Supposedly, doing the steps above resets the Wii according to the Nintendo online trouble shooting guide.

This just happened to our Wii lastweek when the power went out for just moments at home.  Just unpluged the Wii and let it sit overnight unpluged.  The next morning it was as good as new.  Not sure why this happens or how this fixes it, but it workes.

My wii stopped working from a power outage and it doesnt usally do that.

It just means the flow of power to your Wii was interrupted for a period of time long enough to cause it to have no power to run. It's not a big deal and a good bet would be to purchase a surge protector and plug your Wii into that if power outages are common for you.

Wii won't turn on after a power outage.

Hey, recently had a power outage and now your Wii won't turn on?

Well unless your Wii is completely fried from the storm then this should work (It has for me every time I have had an outage).

After you find out it's not getting power then just unplug the power cable from the wall and from the Wii. Normally I unplug it for about 12-24 hours then you go plug it back into the wall, plug it back into the Wii, look at the power button and if it is red/orange then it has been fixed and you should never have a problem with it again unless you keep it plugged in during a thunderstorm/power outage!

This has happened to me about 8 times and this method worked every single time!

Hello, my HP Pavilion desktop PC m9177c went dead after a power outage. Right before the outage, it was on and connected to a surge protector. After the outage, it is completely dead as if there is no...

You may have to change its power supply however, try this first

1. change your UPS coz the old one may have been damaged.

if that still didn't work, change your power supply

My wii console won't turn on

Sounds like it overloaded the Wiis power supply when the power went back on. You should call Nintendo to try and have it looked at under warranty. How old is your Wii? Did you have a surge protector plugged in at the time?

My wii wont turn on

Mkay, it is possible that the power outage has damaged the Wii. It is ALWAYS the best policy to completely power down any game consoles when not in use.
I would first check to see if the Wii is connected to a surge protector that might have tripped when the power was restored.
It shouldn't matter if the Wii is setting in the vertical or horizontal position, Nintendo made it to function properly in either way.
The message about interference with the Wii remote is just telling you that the Wiimote stopped broadcasting its signal to save power. It isn't anything serious, but again, be mindful that video game consoles can be temperamental when misused or overused and just leaving it on CAN lead to malfunctions, usually in the disc drive.
One final option I would try would be establish that the outlet the Wii is plugged into is, in fact, working. It could have thrown a breaker, or again, tripped the surge protector. Those two are really what we want to hope is the problem!

Power outage this am. Wii won't even turn on

Usually, after a power outage, a power spike (when the power returns) can disable/blow the fuse in the AC adapter for the Wii.

Try the following steps in this order:

- unplug the Wii's power cord from the wall, and leave it unplugged (from 5 mins. to 5 hours). Then, plug it back into the wall. (Unplugging the power cord from the back of the Wii will not help. You need to unplug the power cord from the wall.)
- This usually helps reset the fuse circuit in the AC adapter, and your Wii should work again.

- open the panel on the AC adapter box in the power cord; since the screws are proprietary, you will need to creatively use existing tools to turn the screws
- check the 3A fuse in that box; if it looks blown, then replace it

- it might be cheaper to replace the AC adapter with another one

- get the unit repaired

- buy a SURGE PROTECTOR power bar, and plug all of your expensive items into it (to prevent this from happening again).

Hope that helps!

Power Outage & Now Wii Won't Power Up...

When this same thing happened to me, I unplugged the Wii power supply from the wall (not just from the back of the Wii) and let it sit unplugged for about 10 minutes. When I plugged it back in, everything was fine.

Console itself....

You should try to reset the game data by hitting home and rest while playing your game, if that doesnt work go to Wii main menu, THEN hit reset button on the Wii system. And that should do mthe trick it worked for my family!
