Another case of infection by adwares, spywares, trojans, worms and viruses. This is a caution... always have a good anti-virus or internet security running in your system.

NEC VERSA M540 - Performing slow

Try downloading ad-aware. Run it and see if that speeds it up. It is a spyware killer (pop-ups), also clean your hard drive up with a disk clean up option and a degragmentation. If it is still running slow, try a ram up grade.

What is happening with AOL? I have been having lots of pop ups, slow computer and AOL telling me they are having problems? My computer very slow?

Is you computer slow when using software offline? If so, it is either AOL or your internet. Don't judge the speed strictly by going to AOL. Go to Speakeasy Speed Test and test your internet speed. If that shows your internet is running at the speed you are paying for, it si AOL having trouble. You don't say which browser you are using, but most browsers have an option to block pop-ups. Make sure it is on.
Run a virus scan on your PC to see if it is infected. Also defrag your hard drive to speed it up some.

Flashing stop

Those "pop ups" telling you your computer is about to crash is a form of virus. You need to do a scan on your system to locate and remove the problem. Once you do this it should stop the pop up ... Do not ever click on the pop up and let it scan for you ... that's part of the virus. Just close it out right away. Try one of the reputable free cleaners like CCleaner or the trial version of Malwarebytes. If you do not feel you have the capability to install and run these programs you may try someone like Geek Squad to come help you out. It will be a fee but I would think that is better that seizures! You may also get more responces if you post your question in the computer section rather than the watch section.

My computer has a lot of virus n run slow n need 2 be fix

To start with you need to get Lavasoft Adaware installed on your computer. It is free to download and install.

When you have it installed, run it about 3 times rebooting your computer after each run. This should take care of most of your virus problems. After that I would suggest getting a free antivirus software. I use AVG anti-virus. Works very well.

Running slow what should I do, did run cleaner and scan it and that about it

my72corvette ..nice car btw..ive had two myself (70 & 74)

anyway, disregard any post from anyone that suggests you format your computer..that should only be done as a last resort...you could have viruses, you could have to much running in the tray..it could be overheating.

i agree with mike258, formating it is easy, its getting it running again thats the tricky part, especialy if you never did it before.

DO NOT FORMAT YOUR COMPUTER!

# 1 what operating system are you running..lets get that out of the way first

it is normal...

all anti virus needs memory test...

all of them if you enable in start up you will experience slow start also.. you will feel that your computer is slow because all of your task are scanned by your anti -virus...

if you still want your anti-virus running but you don't want your pc to be slow..you can customize the anti-virus options...

you can select there what actions your anti virus will do and what you don't want to do...

ex. stopping your instant messaging shield...
stopping p2p shield...
stopping network dshield...
stopping web shield...
stopping standard shield...

you can also customize it by not letting the autorun of the virus in system start up...

hope i've help you..

High Speed and viruses

Slowness can be caused by viruses.

Run a virus scan and see what comes up.
If there are viruses on the computer, you may want to consider Restoring your computer to factory settings.

But before you do that
Run a virus scan; go to Symantec and run it or download AVG free.

If you decide to restore to factory settings, I will be glad to help you. Understand, you will loose everything on the computer, and you will have to run all your programs again, set up your network connection and email. Very time consuming.
