Question about Ryobi Backpack Blower 25.4cc

1 Answer

The leaf won't fly

The engine just won't "catch". As a result, I rarely use it. However, I planned to blow out my garage today, so I was determined to get it started. Well, I filled it up with gas, and went to pull the cord, and the cord would not budge. Not one centimeter. And I pulled HARD. I am seriously considering chucking it and just purchasing a new one. But before I do, thought I'd check in here to see if anyone had any thoughts about a quick fix. If I need to take it somewhere to have it fixed, then I'd just as soon throw it out. I'm over it. Any ideas? And if I should just get a new one, what brand should I get?

I bought this product last autumn - worked fine. come to use it this autumn and it too "wont catch". When it does, (after many attempts), we have to keep it on high revs, because if we ease off, eg to empty the leave bag, it cuts out and then we cannot get it going again.

would like to solve problem myself before resorting to garage. any assistance or ideas, most welcome.

Remove the pull start mechanism and see if it is that that is jammed or the engine that is seized.
If the former, it is a fairly easy fix. If the latter, it is probably scrap.
Either way, if you're fed up with it, it might be worth sticking on eBay, just make sure you are clear about the fault.

Injector seal replaced as it was blowing, could this of caused any damage to the injector or further into the engine like a piston etc.?

just not conversant with the engine operation
At this point in time leave the engine alone as injectors do not damage engines
over fueling, dribbling , squirting instead of atomizing all have a range of consequences but very rarely will any of those problems result in engine damage
at best it damages the seal and possible seal surface but if a new seal fixed the problem , even that damage didn't happen

How do i get started

I'm not sure what you're asking.. if you're trying to MAKE these, you'll need a design or plan. You can find plans for free or others that require purchase. Have a look at the results below:

beach chair plans Google Search

Determine if you have the ability and tools required to cut, sand, shape, etc. the wood

Next, determine the type of wood you want to use. Different woods require less protection than others and work better outdoors as a result. Your plans may include a "stock list" of what to purchase and how many for things like fasteners, etc.

Bring the list to a home center or building material supply store to be filled and begin.

Why is it failing?

open gas cap and see if it will run again. m,any times the gas tank vents clog and the engine can't draw gas after a few minutes.
another thought is the oil mixture.. 50:1 with oil made for air cooled engines....not boat engine oil

Fuel injector fuse is blown, keeps blowing. Engine turns but won't catch and start.

if the injector fuse is blown then the car won`t start as its not getting fuel into the motor to fire.if the fuse keeps blowing then you could have an injector/s that is drawing too much or the injector driver in the ecm may not be any good and needs replacing or a used could be a short some where in the wiring for the injector system that is going to ground.

1996 manual jetta won't start. It won't even crank. There is a whinning noise when I turn the key from the engine but that's it.

Sounds like the starter drive is not fully engaging with the fly wheel... might try to tap firmly on the body of the starter while you turn the key but be careful not to hit the wires... Might get you going enough to get to a garage and have it checked. good luck!

Toro 534 Question. Poor "throwing" capacity

if your unit has an air vane governer this may be stuck or damaged. If you have this type of governer it will be above the fly wheel.Requires removing front cover. Also check the linkage between governer and carb. make sure it moves freely.

Broken pull starter rope

remove pulley that rope goes on, wind it with new rope, wrap it till it is full, then feed rope thru hole in housing, put pulley back in place, put rope thru pull handle, pull thru till you feel spring catch tie a knot and that should do careful when removing pulley not to dislodge recoil spring

Ryobi BC30 trimmer - pull cord not engaging to turn over engine

The "pully" that you are refering to is called the recoil. There are a couple of simple reasons why this won't catch on the flywheel and if you try to fix it your self it will most likely fly apart and scare the living daylights out of you. Either order a new recoil unit off of Ebay or from a reputable dealer and save yourself the headache.

Good spark feul in compresion hanber but dont

I suggest you open the fuel tank and "fish" up the fuel line hose with the filter attached. Simply blow out the filter. That should allow your engine to get necessary fuel to carbuetor. This is 90% of today's no start problems.

PoulonPro Leaf Blower will not run properly

the carb has a screen in it it needs to be cleaned out the fuel gets crystalized in the carb when it sits for a while. and if the carb has a high and low on the carb meaning 2 screws on the side of the carb .one is for air and the other is for fuel try this first start it up and give it full throttle and turn the high adjustment till it does something screw it in slowley and or out till it is at full rpm sometimes the adjustment screws do vibrate there way out of adjustment .if it dont work then take the carb apart to clean out the screen
