There are no Restrictions to Which browser is available to you on the Android OS, The OEM Browser is a version of Chrome Light with Webkit backend (kinda same as Iphone 3g). There are more browsers on the way, its up to the Developers and coders to create the codes for the new browsers, Opera is currently in its Beta Form. and im sure Mozilla will come up with something !

How do I troubleshoot/ download-install new software/ operating system into my 14 inch icraig slim book clp290

Your netbook runs the Android operating system. It isn't designed and won't run Windows or Mac, just not compatible. If it came with Android 4.2 (Jelly Bean) you might be able to upgrade to Kit Kat. In settings, go to the "About" section (usually at the bottom of the list) and there you can check if an upgrade is available. If it is, it's free.
As far as other programs go, the Google Play store is where you can get apps to run. If you don't have a Google (or Gmail) account, set one up (you don't have to use Gmail). Log into the play store from your device. Once you've done that you might find a browser easier to use in finding apps, in that case open up Chrome or another browser and go to play.google.com and see if you like that look better.

On Facebook it says I can't open a new tab until I close one

Not sure about your question but are you talking about closing tabs in the browser on your android phone?

Open the browser and tap the "tabs" icon (top right).
You should then be able to scroll through all the open tabs and close the ones you don't want by tapping the X on the tab.

If I misunderstood your question, please provide more info as to what browser, OS or device are you using.

Default basic browser is crashing on pages when I use

There are several browsers available for the Android system. Suggest you install at least one other browser and try that to see how it works. It may be the site you are trying to open has a problem with the browser you are using. Firefox is a good choice to use.

Your browser will sometimes close when it detects a page fault on the website. If you continue to have problems with certain pages, I recommend installing Google Chrome from the Play Store

I have a suggestion: Use Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome. I don't use IE unless I have to. Open source software like Firefox or Chrome is much better--faster, and less prone to hacking.

Get Firefox at www.mozilla.com and Chrome at www.google.com.

BTW-at this time, Chrome is rated as the fastest browser.

What is the fastest browser ?

i'm sure google Chrome is the best browser, when i was using chrome, my internet browsing was running at a lighting speed, i even checked my speed
http://www.ip-details.com/internet-speed-test/
and it was normal subscribed 5Mbps, i was using firefox which chocked my browsing capabilities .
But the only one advantage with firefox is that it has more add ons, which makes things much easier

Android Temp Files

If you mean the temp files for your web browser, the location is /data/data/com.android.browser/cache/webviewCache

Unfortunately, the "data" directory and its subdirectories are not viewable except as "root". This means you can't access these files on an actual device (like the T-Mobile G1) unless you use a root hack.

If you wish to clear these temporary files, open the browser, click the "menu" button, then scroll down to "settings", and then scroll down to "privacy settings".
