Without remote is not possible. Any way try press and hold the power bottom on the projector About 4 seconds while projector is in standby mode . Not sure it will work but you can make a try.

The projector ought to be grounded as without a proper ground static could build up and damage either the projector or the video unit connected. Have you cleaned the IR detector window on the projector? Hope that helps.
