Have you set the security settings and everything else correctly?

if your not sure, you can reset the router to default settings by holding down the reset button for 30seconds. after that you should be able to connect easyly, you will just need to configure the security settings on the router pages again.

I have wildblue and my connection will not consistently connect . It freezes up the computer running xp wireless router is WNR854T

With wireless connections, there are at times brief disconnects. If you set your computer's ip address to a fixed value, this may help the problem. With a DHCP connection (not fixed) you could be getting a different address after one of the temporary disconnects causing the hang. Go to control panel, network connections, properties, then scroll down the window to the tcp/ip line , highlight it, then click the properties button. In the properties, click the use ip address button, enter a fixed ip address. If you are using a standard home address system, use 192.168.1.10 (if you have more than one computer, make sure each address is unique). subnet mask is 255.255.255.0, gateway is your router ip address, typically 192.168.1.1. Check your router information to be sure. You can use your router ip for the DNS server ip. If that does not work, check the DNS address provided in your router settings. Save all the settings.

See how that works, if it works, please leave feedback.

Good Luck

I can't configure my Linksys router. I type in the 192.168.1.1 on my browser, and I never get the login page and such. I need to configure it nfor my new computer. I've tried it on both my computers and...

You need to first manually configure your computer with an ip address in the same subnet as the router. Go to the control panel and find the adapter that is physically(or wireless, doesn't matter) connected to the router.

Next, select Properties for this adapter and pick the Networking Tab. In here, select Internet Protocol V4.

Check the radio button that says "Use the following IP address" and enter the follwing info:

IP address - 192.168.1.2
Subnet mask - 255.255.255.0
Gateway - 192.168.1.1

Now you should be able to configure the router. Be sure to change the above settings back to "Obtain an IP address Automatically" when you are done configuring the router if you set up DHCP on the router. If you don't you'll end up with duplicate IP addresses and things will break.

Good luck, and let us know if you need more help on this.

I would check to see if your getting an IP address from the router. If you are, try to see if you are able to access the router.

Type the router's IP address into your safari window: Usually 192.168.1.1

If you have a good IP but still can't access the website, there could be an issue with your new mac computer. Here is the toll free support line for mac: U.S. iPod and Mac technical support: 1-800-APL-CARE (1-800-275-2273)

Secondary computer will not connect wirelessly; IP address problems.

If the router is not assigning an IP then you are probably not actually connecting to the network. Try disabling your wireless security on the router and see if they connect. If they do then you know the problem lies in that direction.

Trying to switch routers, can't get into new Netgear to configure

To configure it you can simply contect a pc to one of its rj45 port. it will give the pc an ip address in a default range. but the must have its network connection configured to receive ip automatically.

See the status of the pc LAN connection and note the gateway ip address. then type this ip in your explore address bar to access the configuration page / program of the router.

Hope that help.

Dynex dx-ehb4 will not change ip addresses

I am not familiar with that router so I will provide general knowledge and you can apply it to fix your problem.
It sounds like your cable modem is willing to supply a single IP address. This can and should be connected to the WAN port of your router. The problem is that the router is not assigning IP addresses to the equipment that is connected to its LAN ports. Instead, it allows that single cable modem IP to be assigned to connection #1 and everybody else gets nothing. Get the computer working through it, connect to the router as per the owners manual and turn on NAT or DHCP, whichever it offers. Reboot the computer and connect xbox and you should be good. This was probably not an issue with DSL because your DSL modem would supply up to about 10 IP addresses and they also passed through the router.

Need to change ip address for my camera

How is your webcam connected to your network? Is it connected to your PC or your router?

If it is connected to your router, go into the router settings and see if the router reassigned a new ip address to the camera. If you set the router up for DHCP, it will automatically assign IP addresses to all devices that are connected to it, as long as the individual devices are also set to dynamic IP addressing. Your router is set up for the 1.0 network, so your pc is most likely 1.2, while your router port connecting to your home network is 1.1.

Another thing you can do is make sure your webcam is turned on and go into 'My Network Places', then click on workgroup computers. See if the webcam is listed there.

Laptops do not recieve IP address from the router

Carlos

I think the problem lies within the dhcp of your router. Make sure dhcp is on and change the lease time to 1440 minutes or higher that way once you have the ip address it will stay with your laptop longer. alternatively allocate the ip address on your laptop manually.

good luck
