Try to diagnose using safemode. press F5 while booting.. under safemode type cmd in run start menu.
under the window for command prompt. type c:\chkdsk c:/f enter

-restart the computer.

if the said solution are not effective try to slave your hardisk with other computer and run the scandisk. to do this click the drive which is the corrupted one and right click >properties>tools>check now>check both option > ok.

then restart the computer and install back your hard disk to your laptop.

if this not effective;
the last option is to reinstall your O.S.(operating system-windows) if you want your file not to be deleted in your harddisk do not format your hard drive in installing your O.S.(operating system-windows).

I would like to restore my computer, but i cant figure out which button to hold down. i have a acer aspire 5335.

Hi,

You can restore the computer back to factory default,to do so, follow the below steps: Turn OFF the computer, now as soon as you hit the power button, keep on holding "Alt" key & keep on tapping "F10" key, i.e Alt+f10, it will open the recovery console, select full factory restore and follow onscreen instruction. NOTE: This will erase all the datas on the computer.

You can also create a set to Recovery disk from the recovery partition, to do so

Start Menu> All Programs> Acer erecovery management> Click Create Factory Default Disk, if you receive any error code or unable to burn the disk, please contact Acer Technical support at 1 800 816 2237 and order for an Recovery Disk.

Thanks and regards,
Jitha

Having problems restoring my acer 5100 notebook.need help please!

Hi there.
Log into Windows and press Acer Empowering Key to launch, you can use that utility to restore the system.
If you have a pqservice partition but alt f10 does not work there is a file called mbrwrwin.exe and rtmbr.bin which is needed to install the acer missing magic code all you have to do is type the following on a dos prompt. mbrwrwin install rtmbr.bin it adds the file to a slot
Once you have done that reboot the computer and wait it takes a while to restart, it then it seems to find new hardware (dont know what it finds) then do a reboot and then you can alt f10 to your hearts content.

Good luck and thanks for using FixYa!!

I need to do a fatory restore/reset on my acer aspire laptop because it has many problems. My son used it withot permission and now I can't even get desktop icons up without "ctrl alt del, new task,...

Hi Sue
Kids are great aren't they? The magic combo you are looking for is alt and f10 (thats the f10 key - not f, 1 and 0). You need to press down the alt key and f10 simultaneously while the ACER screen is up.

The manual for your laptop can be found at this link. http://www.scribd.com/doc/2505575/Acer-Aspire-Laptop-manual

The instructions for the recovery are located on page 25. There is also a notice there that disk to disk recovery must be enabled in the bios for it work. The instructions are there to verify if this is so. Good luck and let me know how it goes.
