Question about Dishwashers
Thanks for helping! How do I test the board to know if its bad? and is it worth the $120. to replace it verse buying a new dishwasher?
Please reread my last posting. I answered these questions giving you all the instruction possible given the limitations of this type of comunication. If you are unsure, you might want to check the Repair Directory for a repareman.

The wireing diagram is useually under the d/w. Look for a package behind the kickplate, under or behind the d/w. You don't have to have it. Just follow the power. Test the wires after the door switch (simulating that the door is latched). Test the other end of the wires. Test for power where it goes into a part then where it comes out. Eventually you will find a part where it doesn't come out. That's the part you have to change. A volt/ohm meter is all I ever use and it doesn't take a lot of time.
As far as your second question; that's a comparison worth looking at. It's my personal opinion that with the modern american d/w I'd be glad if I got six years out of it. That gives me a cost of about
$ 100 per year for automatic dishwashing. Less than that and I'd rather try a new part, more and I'd rather invest in a new d/w. I use a similar equation on any equipment. It's personal, you get to make up your own equations in life for every piece of equipment you own. Good luck!
