Hi there,

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC25. If the wand seems to be jammed, it may be because the hose was twisted when you replaced the wand on the machine the last time you used it. To release the hose, please follow the simple steps shown in the video below.

This should resolve your issue, but if you need any further assistance, please call us free on 0800 298 0298 (UK), or 1866MYDYSON (US).

SOURCE: HOW DO I RELEASE THE WAND ON THE DYSON DC 17?

It's sometimes hard to remember which of these models is which! You should have the machine in the upright position, then I think all you have to do is grasp the top of the wand and just pull it upwards. I hope this helps.

I am sure you figured this out by now, but in case others out there are having the same problem. It is really simple. You have to pull the stick, the wand out of the handle all the way. THen it will just come off itself. The instructions are NOT clear, so don't feel dumb!

SOURCE: I have the dyson animal. There is something stuck

Yes, things stuck in vacuum hoses are not always as easy to remove as one might think. Trying to push it out with something can be counter-productive, and only get the thing stuck tighter! If you have a second vacuum, you can try sucking it out the way it came in (and risk getting it stuck in the other machine. Or you can try pulling it out, using a wooden stick with a small hook screwed in the end. If you try a piece of bent wire, you must be careful not to perforate the hose. Usually just requires a bit of ingenuity.

In order to releease the wand you must firstly make sure the Electrical cable is not wrapped up for storage. So unwrap the electrical cable. then find the item as in the picture. Press this button in and at the same time lift the wand. This will realease the wand from the spine of the Dyson. dumfriesdon.jpg

On my Dyson DC 25, the handle will not release. I pull up on the tube but it will not come up to release the handle as before.

It's possible something is stuck in the wand if it won't pull out. I've seen a paper clip wedged in there cause that.

How do i release the handle on my dc25 dyson vacuum

Hi Dan, it's Jack at Dyson.

I'm sorry to hear you're having difficulty releasing your DC25's wand, but this is likely to be simple to resolve. It probably just means that the hose was twisted around when you last replaced the wand on the machine - allowing the hose to unwind will free up the wand. Just follow these steps:

I'm confident this will help, but if you'd like any further guidance after you've given this a try, you can reach our experts directly by calling the Dyson Helpline on 1-866-693-9766 (US), 1-877-397-6622 (CA) 1800 239 766 (AU), or 0800 298 0298 (UK).

Dyson dc25 handle stuck at top of wand wont relaese

Hi there, it's Jack at Dyson.

A jammed DC25 wand may mean that the hose was twisted when the wand was last replaced on the machine. This can prevent the wand from extending or retracting fully. The video I've attached shows you the simplest way to resolve this.

If you would like any further advice from our experts, you can reach the Dyson Customer Helpline by calling 0800 298 0298 (UK), 1-866-693-9766 (US), or 1-877-397-6622 (CA).

Dyson dc25 animal retractable wand won't go back

Did you try to release the extension by clicking on the red button on the back of the wand? This may allow you to see what is obstructing the pathway for the wand..

I hope that helps.

How do you disengage the wand, it is stuck? Can not pull it out.

Hi there,

Sorry to hear you're having difficulties with your DC28. If you're having trouble removing the wand, the hose may have been twisted the last time you replaced the wand on the cleaner after use. To release it, try following these simple steps:
  • Pull up the wand as far as it will go
  • With the rear of the cleaner facing you, follow the hose down to its base, then stretch the loose section of hose away from the cleaner
  • Pull the hose release tab to detach the base of the hose from the cleaner
  • Allow the hose to untwist itself
  • Reattach the hose to the cleaner
You should find that by detaching the hose and allowing it to straighten itself, the wand is able to move freely. However, if you're unable to do this, please get in touch with us directly so we can help you further. You can call us free on 1866MYDYSON, or email [email protected]. One of our experts will be happy to provide the assistance you need.

Kind regards,

Dyson dc25 animal: cannot remove the telescope reach wand.

The hose is getting twisted on the machine and so the wand gets stuck in the hose.

1) Pull the wand out as far as you can - if you can pull it out completely, separate it from the hose and apply baby powder to the
metal rod. Stretch out the hose and unwind it. In the future, separate the wand and unwind/stretch the hose after use.
2) If you can't pull the wand out all the way, remove the canister/dirt bin from the front. Look for a gray button with 7 vertical
lines/grooves on it (it'll be just above the ball on the opposite side of the bottom hook that you wind the cable around).
3) Push the button and at the same time pull the hose out from the bottom by pulling on the hook - this will release the gray hose
from the machine. Take it off of the machine if possible (the bottom of the wand may stop you from doing so - if it does, try to pull
the wand out until you can release the hose from the bottom)
4) Pull and stretch the hose out and pull the wand at the same time - separate the wand from the hose and unwind the gray hose and
stretch it out. Rub baby powder on the metal rod of the wand and in future, disconnect the wand from the hose and stretch/unwind the
hose after every time you use the wand.
